Is MLB the show coming to PC?

Over the past two years, MLB The Show 22 has made amazing strides to give access to other consoles. In the past, the game was only a PlayStation Exclusive.

But last year, MLB The Show was available for purchase on Xbox and Nintendo Switch in addition to the PlayStation.

Previously both the Switch and Xbox had no realistic baseball game available. But now The Show is available on all major consoles.

Sadly, not yet. As of now MLB The Show is only available on consoles and not yet available on PC. But that doesn't mean it won't ever be on PC.

Before the announcement that The Show would be coming to the Xbox and switch, it was thought that it would always be a PS Exclusive. So sometime in the future MLB The Show may be available for PC users.

It is currently unclear as to why The Show is not available for PC and there is no timetable as to when it might come to desktop.

The only way for PC players to play The Show would be the purchase a console. Currently, only the PlayStation, Xbox and Nintendo Switch are the only places to play.

Baseball is back in season with the release of MLB The Show 22, bringing even more new features and all-star players to the long-loved franchise.

Since the first MLB game was released in 1997, there's been a new game every subsequent year to commemorate the current players and their careers while also giving fans new gaming experiences.

The newest game features full cross-play and cross-progression across the game's many platforms, letting you play whenever, wherever, with whoever you want (for the most part). But is MLB The Show 22 available on PC? Or is there a way to play it on your gaming PC?

Is 'MLB The Show 22' available for PC?

Unfortunately, while the franchise is finally expanding beyond being a PlayStation exclusive, the game has yet to make its way to PC. MLB The Show 22 is available for PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, and Nintendo Switch.

It's currently unclear why the developers didn't make the leap to include the game on PC, and at this time there is no future release date for the game on PC. That being said, more and more console-exclusive games are being ported to the PC, so it's possible the game will eventually make its way to your desktop in the future.

The game is also available on Xbox Game Pass for those who have a subscription, meaning you don't have to pay for it as long as it's available with the subscription.

While you may not be able to play a PC version of the game, you can definitely play the game on your computer through Xbox's remote gaming option, or PlayStation's remote play. Either of these options allow for you to stream the game to play on your PC (or mobile device, if you prefer), though you'll have to own the console of choice for this to work.

The latest entry in Sony San Diego's baseball simulation series, MLB The Show 22, is not available on Steam, the widely popular digital storefront and launcher for PC gaming. This isn't a case of the game being exclusive to another marketplace, which has become commonplace with Epic Games Store hoping to compete with Steam, but is instead a symptom of MLB The Show 22 being missing from the platform entirely. The former PlayStation exclusive series has broadened its horizons recently, but has yet to make its way to PC.

Last year, with the release of The Show 21, Sony brought the series to Xbox consoles - a surprising move since the publisher has only recently begun to port its exclusive titles to PC. Earlier this year, alongside the reveal of Shohei Ohtani gracing the game's cover, it was announced that MLB The Show 22 would be coming to the Switch, another first for the series. Despite this newfound console inclusivity, The Show has yet to make the jump to PC, and there hasn't been any indication that it will.

MLB The Show 22 is launching on PlayStation 4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, and Nintendo Switch, with crossplay enabled between every platform. There are still some differences; the main one being The Show 22's Stadium Creator mode only being available on the newest consoles - PS5 and Series X/S. Optimists would hope that the expansion of available platforms continues next year, bringing the series to PC, but there has so far been no indication that Sony has any such intentions. Unfortunately for Steam users, they won't be able to rack up the achievements that would be the equivalent of MLB The Show 22's really easy platinum trophy.

PC & Steam Aren't Priority Platforms For Sports Series

MLB The Show is part of a larger
issue with sport video games being subpar on PC, alongside FIFA, Madden, and NHL

Considering MLB The Show's previous exclusive status, it's not entirely surprising to see it missing from Steam and PC in general. There is, however, a history of sports video games skipping the platform or essentially treating it as an afterthought. The officially licensed games for the National Hockey League, for instance, haven't come to PC in over a decade, with the last one being 2008's NHL 09. A similar set of circumstances surrounded Madden, which only returned to PC in 2018 after a hiatus longer than a decade.

Even recent releases of Madden and FIFA on PC are subpar, being the same as the last-gen console versions and keeping new features exclusive to the PS5 and Xbox Series X/S. These three series - NHL, Madden, and FIFA - are published by Electronic Arts (not Sony, which is responsible for MLB The Show, one of the larger video game releases in April 2022), but still contribute to a larger issue of PC not getting the latest and greatest in sports video games. MBL The Show 22 isn't available on Steam and PC, but hopefully that will change with future releases.
