Description

Baja Punch was officially described as a Tropical Punch flavor, similar to flavors such as Typhoon and Solar Flare. It was a red-orange in color.

Tagline

Its tagline was "DEW with a Blast of Natural & Artificial Tropical Punch Flavor."

History

On April 20th, 2020, PepsiCo filed a trademark for Baja Punch titled "MTN DEW BAJA PUNCH". On that same day, another trademark was filed for Baja Flash titled "MTN DEW BAJA FLASH."

On August 4th, 2020, on the Dew Drinker Discord, information was leaked by an anonymous individual showing upcoming plans for 2021 with many flavors and new brands alike. All of these leaks are as follows: Major Melon, alongside its Zero Sugar variant, Rise Energy, Baja Blast alongside two flavors, Baja Flash and Baja Punch, DEW-S-A, Riddler's Brew, Gingerbread Snap'd, and a re-release of Pepsi Blue.

Two months after the leaks from August 2020, on October 8th, 2020, a leaked internal reel video surfaced on the same Dew Drinker Discord server, showing upcoming plans for the Mountain Dew brand for 2021. This video reaffirmed much of the previously-leaked information for 2021 for all of the flavors previously mentioned.

It was officially released in stores in the United States on June 12th, 2021 for a limited time alongside Baja Flash, and was sold in 12-packs and and 20 ounce bottles. Both flavors stayed on store shelves until September 12th, 2021 when the 100 Days of Baja promotion ended and they were discontinued.

International release

Canada

Around early 2021, Canadian PepsiCo filed trademarks for both Baja Flash and Baja Punch but, although there was not much known about it at the time.

In late May 2021, Circle K began to advertise for Baja Flash as "BAJA FLASH" alongside Baja Punch as "BAJA PUNCH" in 473mL (U.S. 16-ounce) large cans with also showing them in an unusual large can 12 pack. A week later, in June, Reddit users began to post that they have been finding them at select Circle K stores.

On August 11th, a user by the name of "joe mama" posted an image of Baja Punch on a Canadian Circle K shelf to the Dew Drinkers Discord. This was different from the American bottles, with the same "LIMITED TIME ONLY" banner on the top, and a black cap instead of an orange one. A day later DarnDylan found the bottle at a local Circle K location, confirming its existence. Unlike Baja Punch, Baja Flash was not bottled, likely due to Baja Punch selling more units during its first run in 16 oz. cans.
