Mary Chapin Carpenter opening act 2022

UK resident (originally from Australia), Emily Barker, opened for the show at Boise Idaho's Egyptian Theatre downtown last night on Thurs., June 28th. Her crisp vocals cut through the theatre with such beauty and clarity, and her musicianship on the guitar, harmonica, and piano no doubt made many new fans this evening.

Chapin performed flawlessly with her band members consisting of a drummer, bassist, pianist and guitar/mandolin player. Emily Barker stepped in for backing vocals and tambourine on several songs, too. Mary Chapin performed many favorites and a few new songs from the most recent 2 albums. Over this Summer's tour, she is celebrating 30 years of recording, and I have been a supporter of her music for at least 25 of those years. Well, "supporter" would be an understatement; she's the musical love of my life...haha.

I'm grateful she is continuing to tour and make records, as I know it can't go on forever. I'm cherishing what concerts I'm still able to attend, because, as Chapin said during the show last night, sometimes we really need to come together and connect to the music in person and not just digitally in the form of cd's and mp3's. She's right, too. There's really nothing like it.
