DIVISION l BOYS

The 2022 OHSAA Division l Boys Track and Field state tournament took place at Jesse Owens Memorial Stadium on June 3-4, with Pickerington Central winning its third state title in the last five years.

The Tigers had a score of 31 points and were led by first-place wins in the 100 dash, 200 dash, and 4x100 relay, and an eighth-place finish in the 4x400 relay. Junior Troy Lane finished first in the 100 dash and 200 dash. Senior Kaleb Holloway, freshman Xavier McCoy, and juniors Ethan Pinkins and Troy Lane were the runners for the 4x100 relay first place finish. Olentangy Orange was the runner-up with 30 points. Senior Joel Addo won the high jump state championship.

There were two state records broken during the meet. Lane set the new record in the 100 dash with a time of 10.25. Senior Nick Plant from Canfield set the new record in the 800 dash with a time of 1:48.65.

DIVISION l GIRLS

The 2022 OHSAA Division l Girls Track and Field state tournament took place at Jesse Owens Memorial Stadium on June 3-4, with Gahanna Lincoln winning its third state championship, last winning in 2015 and 2018. The Lions have finished top three in the past eight state meets.

Gahanna Lincoln scored a total of 47 points and were led by first-place wins in the 100 hurdles, 300 hurdles, and 4x200 relay. They also finished second in the 4x100 relay and third in the 100 dash. Junior Camden Bentley finished first in the 100 hurdles and 300 hurdles. Westerville Central was the runner-up with 31 points. They finished with a second-place finish in the 100 dash, second place in 100 hurdles, and second place in long jump.

DIVISION ll BOYS

The 2022 OHSAA Division ll Boys Track and Field state tournament took place at Jesse Owens Memorial Stadium on June 3-4, with Glenville winning its 17th state championship this year, with its last one coming in 2014. This is the most of any team in OHSAA track and field history.

Glenville had a score of 45 points and was led by a first-place finish in the 4x200 relay, second-place finishes in the 300 hurdle and 4x400 relay, and third-place finishes in the 200 dash, 4x100 relay, and high jump. Senior Joe Larkins, junior Milique Herron, sophomore Bryce West, and freshman Jamari Townsend were the runners who placed first in the 4x200 relay. Larkins also ran in the 4x400 relay with senior Gregory Howard, Junior Malik Davis, and sophomore Jayson Williams, and finished second. Williams also finished second in the 300 hurdles. Keystone was runner-up with 35 points. Junior Ryne Shackelford had a first-place finish in the 100 dash and 200 dash.

There was one state record broken during this meet. Seniors Andrew Bukounik and Jordan Harrison, and juniors Dominic Johnson and Christian Anderson from Gates Mills Hawken set a record for the 4x100 relay with a time of 41.66.

DIVISION ll GIRLS

The 2022 OHSAA Division ll Girls Track and Field state tournament took place at Jesse Owens Memorial Stadium on June 3-4, with Dayton Oakwood winning its second consecutive state championship.

Oakwood had a score of 47 points and was led by first-place finishes in the 4x800 relay and 3200 meter. They also finished second in the 1600 meter and third in the 4x400 relay. Senior Grace Hartman finished first in the 3200 meter and second in the 1600 meter. Hartman, freshman Elizabeth Erwin, and juniors Bella Butler and Emma Almoney finished first in the 4x800 with a time of 9 minutes and 14.83 seconds. Buchtel finished second place with 39 points. Senior DaMya Barker finished first in the 100 hurdles and 300 hurdles.

There were three state records broken during the meet. Senior Kya Epps from Akron St. Vincent St. Mary set a record in the 100 dash with a time of 11.57 and the 200 dash with a time of 23.81. Junior Alexa Fortman from Ottawa Glandorf set a record in the 800 run with a time of 2:08.60.

DIVISION lll BOYS

The 2022 OHSAA Division lll Boys Track and Field state tournament took place at Jesse Owens Memorial Stadium on June 3-4, with Creston Norwayne winning its first state championship.

The Bobcats had a score of 40 points and were led by first-place finishes in discus and shot put. Senior Colby Morlock and sophomore Dillon Morlock finished either first or second in discus and shot put. Colby won discus and Dillon won shot put.

There was one state record broken during this meet. Junior Kaleb Nastari from Hanoverton United set a record in the 800 meter run with a time of 1:49.56.

DIVISION lll GIRLS

The 2022 OHSAA Division lll Girls Track and Field state tournament took place at Jesse Owens Memorial Stadium on June 3-4, with Bucyrus Colonel Crawford winning its first state championship.

Colonel Crawford had first-place finishes in the 100 hurdles and 300 hurdles, a second-place finish in high jump, and a third-place finish in the 100 dash. Senior Katie Ruffener had a first-place finish in both the 100 hurdles and 300 hurdles. Sophomore Niyah Shipman finished second in high jump.

There were three state records broken during this meet. Ruffener set a record in the 100 hurdles with a time of 13.87 and then beat it the next day with a time of 13.71. Senior Kenna Stimmel from Castalia Margaretta set a pole vault record with a height of 14’6 ¼, which is also a national record.

SEATED

This is OHSAA’s ninth year of having seated events in the track and field state tournament.

Bloomdale Elmwood senior Jaydon Jenkins finished first in shot put, 100 meter, 400 meter, and 800 meter. Cincinnati Mt. Notre Dame senior Rachel Steffen finished first in the 100 meter, 400 meter, and 800 meter.
