RDR2 rare rolling block rifle upgrade

Up until now, our look at the different unique weapon locations in Red Dead Redemption 2 has mainly been for unique hatchets and revolvers. That’s all gonna change with this post, as I am bringing you the location of a unique Rifle. Below I will show you how to get the Rare Rolling Block Rifle in Red Dead Redemption 2.

Rare Rolling Block Rifle Location: Braithwaite Manor Barn During Story Mission

You will find the Rare Rolling Block Rifle inside this barn.

Inside the barn is a single enemy. He is wielding the Rare Rolling Block Rifle.

Note: You can replay story missions at any time by going to Start > Progress > Story > Chapter > Mission > Replay Mission.

To get the Rare Rolling Block Rifle, you need to grab it off the Bounty Hunter in the Chapter 3 story mission, Magicians for Sport. During this mission you and Charles are tasked with tracking down Trelawny. When you reach the point where you are finishing the cornfield scenario, there are two final enemies that attack. One of these enemies is located inside the barn. On this enemy you will find the Rare Rolling Block Rifle. Picking it up adds it to your Compendium and weapon collection.

About the Rare Rolling Block Rifle

When you pick up the Rare Rolling Block Rifle, it will be added to your Compendium.

When you pick up the Rare Rolling Block Rifle, you will get the following Compendium entry:

A rare Rolling Block Rifle made of light wood and blackened steel, adorned with carvings. Previously belonging to a bounty hunter after Josiah Trelawny, and found in a barn near Braithwaite Manor, this gun is a single-shot weapon, and can use Regular, High Velocity, Split Point, Express and Explosive rifle ammo.

If you’re interested in collecting every single one of the 59 weapons in Red Dead Redemption 2, you will need to collect the Rare Rolling Block Rifle. The Rare Rolling Block Rifle is just one of the many unique weapons you can get in the game including the Viking Hatchet and the Rare Shotgun.

Found a "rare" rolling block rifle on that level when you have to chase guys in the cornfield from the barn sniper. The stats are slightly worse than my regular rolling block (I got all the functional upgrades), and I can't see it in the gun store to upgrade. So what's the point if it's not as good as the regular one and I can't upgrade it?

I thought it had a slightly higher accuracy stat than a comparably modified rifle, but I could be mistaken. In any case, it has a long scope, so I suppose you could put a short or medium scope on the normal one and switch between them, though I'm not really sure why you'd need to.

Other than that, it's just another gun for you to cycle through to get to the guns you actually want. In my opinion, they should've just made it unlock the carvings as an option for the standard rifle.

That's all I have to say about that.

Agreed. Or why not just have the "rare" one replace the standard one if you find it, and just make the rare one have marginally better stats or something? Like you alluded to it, it's kind of useful and frustrating to have two in the inventory, especially because the game doesn't fully pause when you go to select guns.

There is also a rare shotgun. I think it's just an opportunity to collect a modified weapon before you might otherwise have it.

You can find the semiautomatic shotgun, Schofield, double barrel, ect out in the world and on certain missions.

For example I picked up the machete on a side mission before I was able to purchase it at the fence.

There are other rare melee weapons like the viking axe, hewing axe, ect. There are also many rare hats that can be collected like the coon skin cap from the drunk trapper at the bar in valentine or the mining hat from the dream mine. That one will give you a lantern without using a hand so you can see in the dark and duel wield. Try it on your horse at night! It's like having headlights!

You can also unlock certain equipment before it's available in the story. For example normally micah has to give you the offhand holster for you to duel wield but you can get it early by unlocking it in the trapper challenges. You wont be able to buy a second gun but you will be able to use two of whatever you have.

Yea but that doesn't hold water for the Rolling Block. You get the normal one before the Rare is even available. So no dude.

If you used the normal rolling block a lot your familiarity would have made it look better than the rare, the rare has a few better stats just stuck with long sight

Can you upgrade Rare Rolling Block Rifle?

The Rare Rolling Block Rifle is a weapon featured in Red Dead Redemption 2. It cannot be customized.

Is the Rare Rolling Block Rifle better?

The Rare Rolling Block Rifle is similar to the Rolling Block Rifle. It boasts extremely high damage output and range - making it one of the best long-distance attackers for single-targets, but is one of the slowest to reload and fire.

What's better Carcano or rolling block?

The Carcano has a significantly higher fire rate and reload speed, which are usually more beneficial. However, if the Rolling Block's higher damage can be combined with special ammo to guarantee one hit torso kills, it could be more useful.
