Revit rotate view on sheet but not title

@s.kunju

OPTION 1

Use two duplicate views overlayed on top of each other on the sheet ...

  1. first rotated ClockWise without Viewtitle
  2. 2nd blank (all categories switched off) placed normally on the sheet with a viewtitle

OPTION 2 - what I would do

  1. Duplicate that view with detailing
  2. On the properties Palette of the Duplicated view check the box "Crop Region Visibile"
  3. Select the Crop Region and rotate it 90 degrees ClockWise
  4. Place the duplicated view on the SHEET

PS: to not use the view with the rotated crop Region for any other purposes

Edit: see similar example below (for Option 2)

A third option is to create a new type/family for the view title, where the text is rotated. When you rotate a view, you can then select the rotated view title.

This method keeps you from having to rotate crop boxes or alter your view in any way.

Shouldn't this be a standard option in Revit seeing you can rotate the view/ viewport ?

I totally agree.

I just don't understand why Autodesk hasn't thought (yet) to this option. It should come as a standard with Revit.

I've tried duplicating the view tag family, rotating it 90 degrees clockwise and counter-clockwise. The trick works for the texts but it doesn't for the extendable line that sits in between the view title and the view scale. So frustrating!

Not all possible variations of content are included with Revit. Like the rest of us, if you need something that is not provided, you need to find it elsewhere or make it yourself.

In the mean time, you can make a suggestion over in the IDEAS forum.

Drafting is a breeze and Revit doesn't always work the way you think it should.

I think that this variable/option should now be included. Revit has been on the market for a while now and it is not a secret that Autodesk hasn't been improving it as they should - allowing more time to other projects (see open letter reply).

That said, it is obvious that if something is not provided I'll either find it somewhere else or simply (sometimes not so simply) do ti myself. I was just making a point highlighting the fact that a family type like that should be part of the standard package.

Yeah, you made that clear in your other post. That's not something for this forum. There is an IDEAS forum or the product feedback page where your opinion is more appropriate.

Not sure why you say that. That's only to appease those who don't see the improvements as helping them and like to complain.

Revit rotate view on sheet but not title

this is also the method I would use an have tried to use. However...when I try to rotate the view, it will let me rotate it any other angle except 90 degrees. 45 degrees, fine. 89 degrees, fine. 90 degrees? nope...nothing happens. Any advice?

There's a youtube video I found after hours of searching. Don't rotate from the property panel but select the crop region and rotate from the modified pallet.
