Purchasing Gift Cards Online

Sam's Club offers a large variety of gift cards both in-club and online.

Complete the following steps, to place a gift card order:

1. Sign in to your online account

2. Locate gift cards using the search function, departments dropdown or the above links

3. Select the gift card type, amount and quantity

4. Select [Add to Cart] and complete checkout process. 

Which payment methods can be used to purchase a Gift Card?

NOTE: Gift Card orderscannot be purchased online with Sam's Club or Walmart gift card.

Gift card number and PIN code located on the back of card under the silver scratch-off area.

Can I use a Barcode Gift Card? 

Yes. Barcode gift cards have a gift card number and pin associated with the card. It can be used the same as a magnetic strip gift card.

• Enter the gift card number.

NOTE: Though Walmart gift cards can be used at our Sam's Club fuel stations, barcode only gift cards can't be scanned at our pumps. You will need to use a gift card with a magnetic strip at the fuel center. 

What is a Sam's Club Gift of Membership Card? 

Gift of Membership is a Sam's Club prepaid membership card redeemable at any club for one full year of membership. Not redeemable online or over the phone.

Visit the Membership Desk, to redeem this gift card and start enjoying all the benefits of being a Sam's Club Member.

• If you purchased online, you must activate the card using the related shipping confirmation email. Once activated, take the card to any Membership Desk to activate.

• A gift of membership has no expiration date and is not refundable for cash, except in states where required by law.

• A Sam's Club gift of membership card is not an official membership card.

• Gift of membership gift cards can only be used for membership fees.

You can:

• Create a new membership
• Renew your membership
• Upgrade your membership
• Add-on another cardholder 

How do I activate my Sam's Club Gift Card?

Sam's Club Gift Cards are activated upon purchase.

• If you purchased a gift card in club, and it somehow isn't activated, please just revisit the club to have it activated.

• If you purchased a Sam's Club Gift Card online, and it isn't active upon receipt, please Contact us.

• If you purchased a Third Party Gift Card and need help activating it, please call the number on the back of the card.

NOTE: Only applicable to Sam's Club branded cards (not eGift Cards) or third party gift cards. 

How do I check my gift Card Balance? 

1. Sign in to your SamsClub.com account.

2. On your account page, scroll down and select "Gift cards" under the Checkout preferences heading.

3. Enter the Gift Card Number and the 4-digit PIN code (see back of card)

4. Click the [Check balance] button to see your remaining balance.

   • You can also check gift card balance during checkout when selecting a method of payment.

Where can I use a Sam's Club Gift Card? 

If your gift card has a PIN (personal identification number) code, it may be used at:

• Sam's Club
• Walmart Stores
• SamsClub.com or Walmart.com
• Gift Cards and eGift Cards cannot be used to pay Membership fees.
  • Access and use eGift Cards on your smartphone and with the Sam's Club app.
  • Gift of Membership cards can only be used to pay Membership fees in the club.

If your gift card does not have a PIN code, you may only use it at: 

• Sam's Club
• Walmart Stores
• But NOT @ SamsClub.com or Walmart.com 

How do I use a gift card to make an online purchase?

1. At the Checkout screen, at the bottom of your payment options select + Add Gift card.

2. Input the Card number and 4-digit PIN (Locate the PIN by scratching off security film on back).

3. Click the [Save] button for the card to be used in your transaction. The button will remain unusable until all required info is entered.

4. If using multiple gift cards, you can allocate a dollar amount to each gift card. Available balance on gift cards can be checked from this screen by clicking the "Check current balance" and entering the required info.

   • You can use up to 4 gift cards in a single online transaction.

5. Once the entire amount has been allocated, you will be able to complete a checkout by selecting [Place Order].

   • Gift cards cannot be used to purchase other gift cards. 

How long does a refund take if my original form of payment is a gift card?

Like a standard refund, it can take 5-7 business days to finalize. 

Can I return a Gift Card?

In 2009, Congress passed the Credit Card Accountability Responsibility and Disclosure(CARD) Act that sets consumer protections for gift cards based on many state laws. The law provides that gift cards cannot expire within five years from the date they were activated and generally limits inactivity fees on gift cards except in certain circumstances, such as if there has been no transaction for at least 12 months. The federal law creates a floor for regulation and leaves room for state regulation on redeeming gift cards for cash and unclaimed property provisions.

• Gift cards arenot returnable or refundable for cash except in states where required by law. Review your State Laws to learn if gift cards can be refunded and what gift card amounts are allowed.

• If you decide to return merchandise that you purchased using your gift card, the refunded amount will be credited back to the original gift card or a new card.

• We suggest that you not throw away any gift card cards unless you are certain of your purchase.

• Sam's Club can only cash out Sam's Club Gift Cards in states where required by law.

• To see if you can cash out a Third Party Gift Card, call the phone number on the back of the card.
