Top positive reviewAll positive reviews› Luke 5.0 out of 5 starsThe song is a nice break from so much hip-hop Reviewed in the United States 🇺🇸 on August 5, 2016 These two voices blend together well, neither overpowers the other! The song is a nice break from so much hip-hop, hard rock, and just loud and obnoxious songs. This is my kinda music! Charlie Puth and Selena Gomez have been secretly cooking some music. We had no clue about it until this amazing collaboration until the track dropped on Spotify on 23rd January. “We Don’t Talk Anymore” is supposedly from Charlie Puth’s upcoming album ‘Nine Track Mind’ due on January 28, 2015. Album artwork of Charlie Puth’s upcoming album ‘Nine Track Mind’Download “We Don’t Talk Anymore” Single on iTunes / AmazonPre-order ‘Nine Track Album’ by Charlie Puth on iTunes / AmazonNew collaboration track with Selena Gomez is titled “We Don’t Talk Anymore” and is a nice paced-down track featuring some nice vocals by the duo. We should say, their voices sync up quite nicely. Listen to “We Don’t Talk Anymore” by Charlie Puth and Selena Gomezhttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PSZLswgNJfk There isn’t much to be analysed as in the lyrics-sense, since the lyrics are pretty self-explanatory.
The verse speaks of a classical fall out situation between a guy and a girl. Apparently, the girl had moved on to another guy-the ‘one’ she had been looking for. And for some reason, the guy had believed it was him. But when the ‘one’ turns out to be not him, he’s hurt and he cannot move on.
After the fall-out comes the hardest part-the wondering, questioning and self-torture. The one left broken-hearted suffers day in day out wondering what the other one is doing. It is worse if he knows that she is already daring.
Selena Gomez too joins in on the wondering game. She wonders if he wants her back. But she is too afraid to make a move think that she might be wrong. None of them are bold enough to do anything about the fall-out. It’s such a shame it is. A nice melody, beat and simple lyrics take “We Don’t Talk Anymore” to a whole other level of adorableness. 1.5 Stars Yeah... no. This book did not do it for me. For one, it left a very bad first impression on me. How? Well, when the opening of the book is the H screwing another woman (the "town/school bicycle" since she basically sleeps with everyone with a penis) and losing his precious virginity at that, via the h's POV, then you already know it's a recipe for disaster. To make it worse, the H already knew
the h, had strong feelings for her, and KNEW that doing that would break the h's heart. He eve Yeah... no. This book did not do it for me. For one, it left a very bad first impression on me. How? He even did it on purpose to actually hurt the h and push her away. I don't care what his reasons are (it was supposedly to "protect the h" HAH give me a damn break, yeah some "sacrifice" that was for the H, PUHLEASE)... for me that was one MASSIVE dick move which makes the H barely redeemable (like it would take one giant groveling and making up to
somewhat counter what he did). But no, instead, he loses his shit (this on the same night he lost his virginity to some school bicycle who he didn't even like) when he sees the h about to kiss another guy and even punches said guy. WHY HELLO DOUBLE STANDARDS. I ABSOLUTELY HATE IT when author's do this. It would've actually made me feel somewhat better if the h also lost her virginity to someone else -- the H sure as hell did not deserve it (even though he still ended up taking her V-card GAH
such bull). To make it EVEN worse, the H did not do any groveling whatsoever to win the h back all-throughout the book. The h... Oh Josephine. The entire time I pictured the word "doormat" on her forehead in blinking neon lights. That's how much of a pushover she was. She just accepted everything the H did to her -- hurt her, walk all over her, and use her time and time again. It was seriously painful to read about. Anyway, I'm gonna end my rant here because if I keep thinking about this book
some more, I might not be able to sleep well tonight out of extreme frustration and annoyance. Yes, to be fair, it was written well (that's where the 0.5 is coming from). But the story was just all kinds of wrong. It did end on a cliffhanger, but you wouldn't see me wasting my time on the next book. I have officially given up on these characters.
4 ⭐'s This is not quite your typical childhood sweethearts/rich girl-poor boy story. Right from the get-go, it's very
obvious that Archer is doing whatever he can to push Josephine away. Naturally, Josephine is very hurt. She's quite introverted so it's hard for her to navigate some things and when she's pulled into certain events quite vigorously, she barely keeps her head above water. I enjoyed getting to know the different characters and how all the family dynamics were playing out. Archer's p This is not quite your typical childhood

Josephine's were not. The drama is a bit overboard and some parts too unbelievable and what happened to Archer was too cliche. This is book one and it definitely did its job building circumstances up. The story is left up in the air and I'm quite looking forward to the conclusion, We Don't Lie Anymore, coming out December 8, 2020.

of Archer and Josephine and I loved it so much. I have been a big fan of JJ for years because her writing draws you in with carefully crafted dialogue that allows you to be the character! Jo and Archer‘s story was everything I could have asked for. The two of them are so amazing together! 😻 While reading, I wished I could have such a connection with somebody, such a friend, someone who‘s simply your person, period. you!😈😉😘) made it a Duet, so I have to wait til December to read the second part of Jo and Archer‘s story. Hey everyone, one-click this story as fast as you can! You won’t regret it, I promise! 😉 *** I received an Advanced Reader Copy in exchange for an honest review. ***

bit of a self-imposed martyr, his deep devotion to Josephine and his family was indisputable. And Josephine’s introversion, yet undeniable strength, made her an extremely relatable character. As I assume there will be a time jump going into the next story, I’m looking forward to seeing how these characters grow as they progress into adulthood. I do wish there was a little more character interaction and a little less exposition and interior monologue—I found myself skimming these parts.
However, beyond this slight issue and the fact that I hate cliffhangers (and this one was a doozy), the book was truly riveting. I highly recommend this deeply emotional novel to anyone who enjoys second chance or friends to lovers stories with the archetypal boy from the wrong side of the tracks. I am eagerly anticipating the sequel! *I received an ARC of this novel. This is my complete and honest review.*

I almost didn't read this based on what some people said happened in the reviews, but I'm really glad I went for it because it's fantastic! The connection
between the MCs feels so powerful. I love both Archer and Josephine, they're so fully formed and relatable and real feeling. At first glance, it may seem like you've heard it all before-the overachieving wallflower heroine and the jock best friend hero-but they are far from trite. Also, the hero is a POC, which I am damn glad for. BIPOC MCs, especially BIPOC heroes are exceedingly, frustratingly rare in romance novels*, and it
makes me feel gross. Jo in particular is smart, not just academically but clever and strong-willed. I love the detail about how Archer always finding her off on her own at parties, watering the neighbors' plants or loading the host's dishwasher, because I could totally see myself doing the same shit. She's observant, thinks critically, and is principled. Both of the MCs are, actually. I think the moment that gets me for Archer is when he (view spoiler)[saves that koi fish from that
stupid bet and runs him back to the pond. (hide spoiler)] Right there, he's got me. In terms of the first scene that has some reviewers up in arms, it's devastating to read, but didn't turn me off of the hero or their love story. SPOILERS:(view spoiler)[ The book opens to the heroine sitting in a quiet room off of a party, tortured by the sounds of the hero losing his virginity to the school's mean girl in the room above her. Holy fuck does it hurt to read. While
the 'hero-fucking-another-woman-as-martyrdom' trope is overdone and often a ridiculous, over-the-top shitty decision that seems wildly unnecessary and feels at least somewhat like a lame excuse to fuck somebody else, this situation doesn't come off that way in my eyes, for the following reasons: 1.Technically, it's all above board. The MCs are just friends at the time, and, while both had romantic feelings for each other, neither have expressed them to the other(or anyone). In fact, the
heroine is surprised to discover that she is hurt by what's happening, suggesting that she's still coming into awareness of her feelings. 2.In the next chapter, you read the hero's perspective of the scene. That's where you learn that this is a calculated move on the Archer's part, designed to sever the connection he has with Jo once and for all, in an effort to keep her safe. Now, an important distinction here to me is that he has been trying to push her away constantly for the past
month using less hurtful methods, to no avail. He didn't just immediately jump to the 'inflict irrevocable heartbreak' method, this is a last resort. But, I think what ultimately makes this whole situation work for me is that the hero is not enjoying this--at all. He hates it, he seems as miserable as Jo as this is happening, he's not attracted to the girl he's with, he's struggling lamely to stay hard through this blow job as what he's doing makes him sick with disgust,
remorse, and grief for the loss of his best friend and girl he's in love with that's sure to follow. It's clearly not a pleasurable experience for him, on any level. (hide spoiler)] On the other hand, if someone were to take issue with how quickly Josephine chooses to overlook Archer's behavior, I could feel that for sure. But, while she could be interpreted as a bit of doormat at times, I can empathize with her desperation. It's not just desperation for him to be with
him romantically, it's to have her best friend back. Also, while she may be quick to forgive at times, she never prostrates herself before him, or humiliates herself, or acts pathetic in any way. She doesn't stay home and pine for him, she makes new friends, and entertains romantic possibilities with other men. She maintains her self-respect, and my respect for her with it. I'm excited and scared for the second half of this duet. The angst and suspense are so heavy in this story, and it
doesn't look like it's about to let up any time soon! *If romance novel were an accurate reflection of global demographics, like half the world's female population would be redheads (and zero percent of the male population, somehow), the entire female BIPOC population would all be able to live comfortably on the island of Malta, and the prevalence of BIPOC males would rival the abominable snowman. And the rest would have black hair, pale skin and blue eyes. I wish I were exaggerating more
than I am.
This book was a ball of childhood bestfriends to lovers ANGST. Nothing hurts quite so deliciously as thinking the only person you've ever loved doesn't like you back. Not even that, but that he doesn't want anything to do with you. However it just got too angsty for me. It was angst overdosis. Real Greek tragedy up in here. But we also need to talk about the grave sin of (American) High school contemporary's painting
all the female characters- except our delicate innocent wallflower MC ofc- as fake slutty strumpets out to sleep with every man in existence. Oh and dear Archer, if the head cheerleader is such a slut for sleeping with you (and other men) what does that make you? The internalised misogy is RAMPANT in this book. Honestly I get second hand embarrassment for the grown woman that writes this. Do better.
DNF. Huge double standards and doormat heroine. I was very excited for this duet...but I can't be bothered reading (let alone paying for) books with the same
annoying, unrealistic cliches that only hurt the reading experience. The author is a good writer...but gah, not like this... The hero loses his virginity to a bully OW to purposely hurt the heroine so she doesn't fall for him, while at the same time he becomes extremely jealous and prevents the heroine from being with other guys - literally The hero loses his virginity to a bully OW to purposely hurt the heroine so she doesn't fall for him, while at the same time he becomes extremely jealous and prevents the heroine from being with other guys - literally punching a guy who tries to kiss her. The heroine is briefly hurt by him, but she ultimately
gets over it with zero grovel. The hero suffers from the worst Romance novel tropes ever: the "I'm not good enough for you so let me just fuck around with every other woman BUT you" trope combined with the "If I can't have you, then no one else can" trope. Makes for an extremely unlikeable, hypocritical hero. Even worse, the next book's description indicates that they separate for a year...and I saw from reviews that the heroine remains celibate while its unknown if the hero does
(we all know what that means...he was def playing the field). I just don't get why authors continue to write stories like this and what the heroine being celibate adds? Why can't the heroine lose her virginity to (or at least have sex with) someone else, which would be a realistic and natural consequence of the hero fucking up? You don't lose any of the emotion or heartbreak...in fact, it adds more, because both of them now have the chance to feel regret about not waiting for each other.
Having the heroine being the only "faithful" one solely serves to make her a frustrating, doormat character. Character realism in books is usually a good choice!!

Secondary characters were not that interesting and it was hard to believe Jo’s parents were so cold and uncaring towards their own daughter while playing saviours of the world at the same time - it just doesn’t click. However, nice touch with blackmail at the end, although I didn’t take Archer for someone without backbone. Again, he could have played it in a different manner, but I guess it was the author’s idea of a cliffhanger. I’m curious of what is going to happen to Jo and Archer, so I will be buying the second book and hope not to get disappointed. I give 3 stars for this one. ...more
