Los Angeles is the city of stars, and despite what the tour guides selling maps on the Walk of Fame will tell you, they don't all live in Hollywood.

LA is a diverse city full of dozens of unique neighborhoods and areas, and you can find celebrities living (or hiding) in all of them. Here's a look at various neighborhoods in Los Angeles and the famous people who call them home. While you're at it, join your favorite A-lister by searching for apartments in Los Angeles.

Celebrities who live in Malibu

Malibu has one of the most expensive ZIP codes in the country, with ultra-posh beachside properties that cost millions of dollars. Located quite a trek outside of Central LA, it's also a quiet, secluded paradise for stars seeking privacy and nature. Cindy Crawford, Courteney Cox, Steven Spielberg and Patrick Dempsey are some of the stars who have made Malibu their home. The region was also the subject of Miley Cyrus's single, "Malibu," and she loves living there so much she's even rebuilding the house she lost in the recent wildfires.

Consisting mostly of houses rather than apartments and condos, Zumper.com estimates average rent for a one-bedroom in Malibu at around $4,500. Check out rentals in Malibu now.

Celebrities who live in Pacific Palisades

A beachside paradise on par with Malibu, but located just west of Central LA, Pacific Palisades is home to some of the most well-heeled professionals in the world, as well as a handful of stars like Reese Witherspoon. Though she's opted for a posh home in one of the city's most exclusive neighborhoods, the "Big Little Lies" star still adds a little Southern charm to her digs.

Other residents of the neighborhood include J.J. Abrams, Ben Affleck and Judd Apatow, to name a few.

As of August 2019, average rent for a one-bedroom in the area is $3,398. Discover apartments in Pacific Palisades.

Celebrities who live in Santa Monica

Stars sure love the beach, and so do major entertainment empires. This area, located just south of Pacific Palisades, is home to Netflix, Hulu, and production companies for Michael Bay, as well as J.J. Abrams' Bad Robot. Residentially, celebs like Tom Cruise, Sandra Bullock, the Beckhams and Christian Bale have their nests here, too. Bale resides just a few minutes away from the sand in the swanky Rustic Canyon neighborhood with his family.

The average one-bedroom here will cost you around $3,030 per month. Check it out for yourself and search for rentals in Santa Monica.

Celebrities who live in Bel Air

Home to the iconic Playboy Mansion, the ultra-exclusive area of LA known as Bel Air puts Beverly Hills to shame in terms of luxury, cost and status. Old Hollywood stars like Tony Curtis, Marilyn Monroe, Burt Reynolds, Sonny Bono and Cher have all once lived not only in the neighborhood, but at the same address: 141 North Carolwood Drive.

Jennifer Lopez famously purchased a $40 million French-inspired estate, adding the posh property to her portfolio, which also includes a penthouse in Manhattan and other real estate gems.

Despite the high price tag for owning property here, the average one-bedroom unit (if you can find one) will run you about $3,194. Make this area your home by searching for rentals in Bel Air.

Celebrities who live in Beverly Hills

With the best-known ZIP code in the world, Beverly Hills is a famous tourist destination, and a top spot to reside for some of the most important people in show biz. Channing Tatum, Beyonce and Jay Z, and Slash all own property here.

A solid mix of houses, apartments and condos, the rental market is a little larger here than in other neighborhoods like Malibu and Pacific Palisades. The average one-bedroom in Beverly Hills will cost you about $2,950 per month. Check out apartments in Beverly Hills now.

Celebrities who live in Studio City

As its name implies, Studio City is home to some of the biggest production hubs in the city, like the CBS Radford lot and tons of production companies. Mega writer/producer/showrunner Marti Noxon resides in the neighborhood, as well as music legend Bruno Mars and A-list actor George Clooney. Clooney purchased a home in the hills of Studio City back in the 90s while he was still on "ER," and he lives there to this day with his wife, Amal, and his children.

Expect the average one-bedroom rental here to cost you about $2,175 per month. Discover rentals in Studio City now.

Celebrities who live in Los Feliz

Perhaps the neighborhood most likely to have a celebrity sighting, with stars out running errands on Hillhurst or Vermont, Los Feliz boasts residents like Kristen Bell, Jon Hamm, Colin Farrell, James Cameron and Angelina Jolie, who famously moved into a $25 million compound after finalizing her divorce from Brad Pitt.

Katy Perry also recently made headlines for her battle to buy a massive medieval convent-turned-mansion. She currently resides there with Orlando Bloom.

Nestled at the foot of the hills of Griffith Park, Los Feliz is one of the most desirable neighborhoods to live in on the east side of LA. Expect a one-bedroom rental here to go for $2,095 per month. Search for apartments in Los Feliz.

Celebrities who live in Sherman Oaks

This upscale valley village located west of Studio City offers easy access to the beach, all the production companies and studios in Burbank and Glendale, plus West Hollywood and Hollywood over the hill, without any of the hassle of actually living in the center of the city.

Sherman Oaks has been home to stars like Michael Chiklis, known for his role as detective Vic Mackey on "The Shield," as well as Paula Abdul, Joseph Gordon-Levitt and Jennifer Aniston, who was actually born there.

The cheapest neighborhood on our list so far, average estimated rent for a one-bedroom here is just $1,875 per month. Check out Sherman Oaks apartments.

Celebrities who live in Downtown Los Angeles

Downtown Los Angeles, or DTLA as it's often called, has seen a MAJOR revival this past decade, with billions and billions of development dollars flowing into the neighborhood. It's actually turned into one of the most desirable areas to live in the city, and in the past, stars like Johnny Depp, Diane Keaton, Vincent Gallo and Nicolas Cage have owned property here.

The revival of the area has also led to an uptick in rent prices. The average one-bedroom here will cost you about $2,845 per month. Discover apartments in downtown Los Angeles now.
