there are an infinite number of answers to this question. Here are some possibilities:
2/3, 3/4, 3/5, 4/5, 5/6, 4/7, 5/7, 6/7 and so on.

There are an infinite number of fractions greater than 1/2. The words, "and so on" indicate that there are many more, in fact an infinite number. It is not possible to write an infinite number of fractions, so the words "and so on" refer to the remaining fractions not stated.

Let’s take a look at each of these. If you look at 6/14, your denominator is 14. So what is half of 14? 7. So 7/14 is equal (or equivalent to 1/2). Therefore 6/14 is LESS than one half.
Lets look at 5/8. The denominator is 8. So what is half of 8? 4. So 4/8 is half. 5/8 is greater than 4/8. 5/8 is greater than 1/2** answer.
But don’t forget that it’s important to check the rest.
Let’s look at 25/30. The denominator is 30. What is half of 30? 15. So 15/30 is half. 25/30 is greater than 15/30. So 25/30 is ALSO greater than half.
Let’s check 3/6. 6 is the denominator. Half of 6 is 3. There for 3/6 is equal (or equivalent to) 1/2.Its not greater than 1/2.
Calculator Use
Compare fractions to find which fraction is larger and which is smaller. You can also use this calculator to compare mixed numbers, compare decimals, compare integers and compare improper fractions.
How to Compare Fractions
To compare fractions with unlike denominators convert them to equivalent fractions with the same denominator.
- If you have mixed numbers convert them to improper fractions
- Find the lowest common denominator (LCD) for the fractions
- Convert each fraction into its equivalent with the LCD in the denominator
- Compare fractions: If denominators are the same you can compare the numerators. The fraction with the bigger numerator is the larger fraction.
Example:
Compare 5/6 and 3/8.
Find the LCD: The multiples of 6 are 6, 12, 18, 24, 30, etc. The multiples of 8 are 8, 16, 24, 32, etc. The lowest common multiple is 24 so we use that as the lowest common denominator.
Convert each fraction to its equivalent fraction using the LCD.
For 5/6, multiply numerator and denominator by 4 to have LCD = 24 in the denominator.
\( \dfrac{5}{6} \times \dfrac{4}{4} = \dfrac{20}{24} \)
For 3/8, multiply numerator and denominator by 3 to have LCD = 24 in the denominator.
\( \dfrac{3}{8} \times \dfrac{3}{3} = \dfrac{9}{24} \)
Compare the fractions. Because there are like denominators you can compare the numerators. 20 is larger than 9, so:
Since
\( \dfrac{20}{24} > \dfrac{9}{24} \)
we conclude
\( \dfrac{5}{6} > \dfrac{3}{8} \)

Is 2/3 greater than 1/2? Is 2/3 bigger than 1/2? Is 2/3 larger than 1/2? These are all the same questions with one answer.
To get the answer, we first convert each fraction into decimal numbers. We do this by dividing the numerator by the denominator for each fraction as illustrated below:
2/3 = 0.667
1/2 = 0.5
Then, we compare the two decimal numbers to
get the answer.
0.667 is greater than 0.5.
Therefore, 2/3 is greater than 1/2 and the answer to the question "Is 2/3 greater than 1/2?" is yes.
Which means that this equation is also true: 2/3 > 1/2
Note: When comparing fractions such as 2/3 and 1/2, you could also convert the fractions (if necessary) so they have the same denominator and then compare which numerator is larger.
