The iconic Vex Mythoclast has been a little too strong for too long, Bungie admitted.

Raid Exotics are locked behind a once per week timegate and players think it’s high time for a change to the system.

In Destiny 2, there are a handful of Exotic weapons that are exclusive to Raid rewards. Examples such as the Vex Mythoclast, the Fusion Rifle that drops at the end of Vault of Glass, are a constant source of contention among players.

These weapons are meant to be rare drops and are not guaranteed to be awarded after every completion. Raid rewards are limited to a one-try per character every week. While three attempts at getting the weapon might seem like a lot, there are plenty of stories about players clearing 50 or more attempts before finally receiving the gun.

Players have gathered on the Destiny 2 Subreddit to share their frustrations about the process of unlocking these weapons.

Unlocking Raid Exotics in Destiny 2

Usually, these kinds of Raid drops are infused with a bad luck protection system. This would increase the likelihood that a player gets the drop for every time they’ve completed the event and not received the reward.

While Bungie has implemented that system on some weapons, items like the aforementioned Vex Mythoclast do not seem to have any kind of protection at all.

One user said: “I raided with a guy today, he had done 77 VoGs and not gotten it. We were doing three runs. On his 79th run, he got it. Guess I got 59 more to go.” Another replied: “Laughs in 53 attempts.”

Bungie

One of the most frustrating items in Destiny 2, the Vex Mythoclast has an estimated 3% drop rate in Destiny 2.

While the exact numbers haven’t been released by Bungie, a study done by Reddit user Pinnkeyy estimates the weapon to have a 3% drop rate over its lifespan.

That means that each time a player attempts the Raid, there’s a 97%  chance the weapon won’t drop.

While this might be an effective strategy to keep players engaged with Raids, there people talking about being burned out before ever getting the reward. This has been a recurring problem in the community, but no alternative solutions seem to be unanimously agreed upon.

Bungie hasn’t commented on any potential changes thus far, it could be something to keep an eye on as we draw closer to the release of The Witch Queen.

Another rng raid exotic is kind of a yikes.

I cant speak for myself because I dont raid enough, but for everyone else that does, Im sure we can all agree that whatever bad-luck protection system Bungie has incorporated into raids does not work. I find it baffling and almost uncanny how a person who has raided every week after 50+ runs still cant get the exotic to drop, only for few people to come along who have only raided once or twice or 5 times and gets the exotic. Its just not a good feeling overall because people grind every week. They devoted time and patience to get a chance at the exotic and it not dropping after 30+ runs is just abysmal. There are now currently 5 raids in the game and ONLY ONE is tied to a quest. Im not saying all the raid exotics should be quests, but I think after a while if i did the same raid 3 times a week and didnt get the exotic after 30+ runs id just give up and wait for it to go into the Monument, and im sure other people feel this to an extent as well.

My solution would be that after a person has completed 30 runs of the raid they should get the exotic guaranteed. None of this 5% or 2% increase BS, I dont think any sane person would be willing to raid 50+times and still not get the exotic. If you do then I feel sorry for you and im surprised youre not tired of it. Either that or make raid exotics tied to a quest similar to the Legend of Acrius which encouraged you to do the raid multiple times in order to craft or unlock the weapon.

Its a good thing that raid exotics arent necessary, but getting them and using them are no doubt one of the most satisfying this in this game. Stay safe out there guys, dont burn yourselves out too quick on the new raid, that Exotic pulse is not a must have unless you are absolutely going for the title.

Is there bad luck protection for touch of malice?

Sadly, there is no way to increase your drop chance, and there is no bad luck protection. Everything comes down to your RNG. Some players will get Touch of Malice on their first or second completion; some players will take dozens or more.

Does Eyes of tomorrow have bad luck protection?

However, the more times you clear the raid, the more you're supposed to build up "bad luck protection" against missing out on the Exotic. Essentially, that means your chances of getting Eyes of Tomorrow are supposed to increase each time you clear the raid until, theoretically, your protection reaches 100%.

Is there bad luck protection for RAID exotics?

I believe the last time bad luck protection was addressed was Eyes of Tomorrow. The community assumption being that this would apply to all future raids. However, raid exotics still appear to have bugged drops, or there is no protection on their drop rates.

Does vow of disciple have bad luck protection?

Raids or any other activity do not have any sort of bad luck protection for legendary weapons (only exception being Wellspring). Only raid exotics are given bad luck protection.
