Wendy's new Asiago Ranch Chicken Club replaces their previous chicken club with a more bolder version. The new club sandwich replaces Swiss with a more trendy Asiago and takes out the mayo for a more interesting Ranch sauce. The rest of the ingredients are the same familiar bacon (thicker and Applewood-smoked now), iceberg lettuce, tomato, and your choice of chicken (homestyle, spicy, or grilled) on a premium soft bun.

Suggested retail price is $4.79 but it goes for $4.99 at my local Wendy's.

According to Wendy's, their Asiago cheese is a "naturally-aged Italian cheese with a rich, nutty flavor." While the I tasted a distinct nutty flavor when I tore off a little piece of the cheese, it is largely lost when combined with the other ingredients especially the Ranch sauce which was particularly strong.

I opted for the Homestyle deep-fried and breaded chicken patty and it was nice, substantial, and crunchy but not particularly juicy (meaning it had been sitting in the warmer for a while). There were only two slices of bacon or more like one slice cut in half. They were flavorful but weren't particularly crispy; I really could have used a third slice.

I wanted more lettuce. I feel odd typing that but I only got a sad, single, miserly slice of lettuce and iceberg lettuce is one of the cheapest ingredient in a sandwich! There's really no point in having a single, thin piece lettuce of lettuce especially in a "premium" sandwich.

I'm also not sure I like this bun they use for this sandwich; it's very soft and fairly dense with a moist, soft crust. It reminds me quite a bit of the Hawaiian bun for the KFC's Doublicious sandwich and looks a lot like Wendy's Kaiser bun. However, it's inferior and I would have much preferred the more familiar, and more Wendy's, Kaiser bun.

I'm not saying that Wendy's Asiago Ranch Chicken Club is a bad sandwich, it was actually fairly tasty but it has definite shortcomings that make me feel like I"m just not getting a good value for my money.

Wendy’s just launched their new asiago ranch chicken club sandwich. I didn’t know they released a new sandwich until M gave me an earful about how the sandwich has such amazing ingredients. All I could do was give him a weird look and he made me promise him that we would go get it after school.

Surely enough, I kept to this promise and went to get this sandwich with him.

The sandwich comes in 3 different variations – grilled, homestyle or spicy. Each sandwich also contains strips of applewood smoked bacon, asiago cheese, ranch sauce, lettuce, and tomatoes. This sandwich can range from 470 – 660 calories depending on the style of chicken you get.

We went to the drive through to get it since eating in at Wendy’s during the late night is quite depressing, it screams “I have no life”. We only got one Spicy Asiago Ranch Chicken Club combo ($8.95). Medium coke, Sea Salt fries, and the sandwich.

The sandwich obviously does not look like their advertisement but is decent. The spicy chicken fillet is plump, tender, juicy and adds a bit of a kick. The spiciness is not over powering at all, it is fairly mild and won’t make you cry or scream for water.

Since this sandwich does carry a bit of salt content in the chicken breading and bacon, the fresh tomatoes and lettuce balances it out. The asiago has a nutty sharp taste. Even though there are different flavours, they do not compete against each other, this is probably the mix of ingredients and how you can still taste each ingredient distinctly. The bun is soft and houses the ingredients well.
