The documentary also features a detailed timeline of the disappearance of Gabby Petito and later of her fiancée Brian Laundrie, including the haunting dashcam footage obtained by police after a member of the public, reported seeing Laundrie "slapping" Petito on August 12.

As widely reported at the time, police stopped Petito and Laundrie in their white van but decided not to press charges.

A report by officer Eric Pratt stated: "Both the male and female reported they are in love and engaged to be married and desperately didn't wish to see anyone charged with a crime."

Petito was reported missing on September 11, 2021, nearly a week and a half after Brian Laundrie returned to Florida alone following their cross-country road trip together.

Three days later, Laundrie was reported missing by his parents.

One week after his disappearance, a federal arrest warrant was issued for Laundrie on charges of fraud, after he was found to be using an unauthorized debit card and bank account between August 30 and September 1. The bank account belonged to Petitio.

On September 21, authorities confirmed remains were found in the Bridger-Teton National Forest in Wyoming belonged to Petito. They also announced her manner of death was a homicide. Authorities had previously named Brian Laundrie a person of interest, not a suspect, in the investigation.

On October 20, Brian Laundrie's remains were found at the T. Mabry Carlton, Jr. Memorial Reserve and Myakkahatchee Creek Environmental Park. The coroner later confirmed his death to be suicide.
