Who won the second season of The Rap Game?

Tonight was the second part of The Rap Game season 2 finale and I’m in compete and total shock!

This episode didn’t end the way I thought it would and, if I’m being competently honest, I still don’t understand why. I had a top 3 of who I thought would win and neither of those rappers won, so I’m at a loss for words.

But, before I get into all that, let me give you guys a run down of the episode.

We started off where last week’s episode left off. With 11 hours to showtime, Jermaine had the rappers and their managers hit the streets to pass out flyers and to make new fans in hopes of convincing them to attend the performance. He wanted the kids to know what it was like to market and sell themselves and I think they did pretty well.

They went out there and talked to any and everyone that crossed their path and you could tell that they actually won over a couple people. A couple of the managers tried to approach citizens that they thought would be included in their targeted fanbase, which I thought was really smart, and they even did a small performance to show the people what they were working with. I’m not sure how many of those people actually showed up to the performance, but I think they gave good effort.

Time passes and they eventually make their way back to the venue to meet up with the friends and family that came to town to see their performances. We also see Miss Mulatto walk in the venue, which I thought that was pretty cool. I loved her involvement in the show this season. Even though she was only around for a couple minutes, in total, it was nice seeing her interact with this season’s young rappers.

Fast forward to about a half an hour to showtime and we’re taken back stage as the rappers are preparing for their performance. The energy was up and everything was going good until Nia Kay showed everyone what one of her props was. They were little hand towels that had ‘So So Nia’ written on them.

Now, if you’ve been keeping up with the show then that prop should sound familiar, but I’ll break it down for those who aren’t weekly watchers. During last week’s episode, Lil Key and his manager came up with the idea to get some hand towels and write ‘So So Key’ on them, but while they were in the middle of ironing the letters onto the towels, a couple other rappers (and managers) walked into their room. One of those duos just so happened to be Nia Kay and her manager, Seneca.

They can swear up and down that they didn’t take that idea from them, but I don’t believe it. I said in a previous post that I don’t trust Seneca because he’s sneaky and manipulative. He’s a snake in the grass and I don’t think he should be trusted by anyone, so I wouldn’t put it past him to steal their idea, especially if he thinks it’ll help Nia win. He’s said in the past that he would do anything to guarantee her that contract, so I’m convinced he stole their idea. But, enough of the drama, let’s get to the main focus of the episode.

Before the kids performed, we were told that there was a couple season one participants in the audience. In addition to Miss Mulatto, Young Lyric and Supa Peach also attended the performance. We were missing Lil Niqo and Lil Poopy, but it’s not a big deal. I’m just glad that Miss Mulatto wasn’t the only one in the house.

In reference to their performances, I think they all did good. They’ve all showed some serious growth and I was proud of them. However, there was still some things that Jermaine and his team (which included Da Brat) didn’t like. One rapper made the mistake of bringing someone on stage too early in their performance, while another was criticized for running out of energy toward the end of their performance. I didn’t agree with the latter, but the former was a little distracting. They did, however, like someone that I wasn’t really feeling. In fact, we later find out that majority of Jermaine’s celebrity friends (Bow Wow, Snoop Dogg and Mariah Carey) gravitated toward this person. I didn’t (and still don’t) see the draw, but that’s just my opinion.

If you know who I’m referring to and you agree with Jermaine’s friends, please let me know in the comment section or on my social media what the draw is because, as I said earlier, it’s not clicking with me.

Now, let’s talk about Jermaine’s season 2 winner. I won’t mention any names because I don’t want to ruin the ending for anyone, so all I’ll say is that I don’t agree. I don’t understand how this person beat out everyone, especially the person that he/she was in the bottom two with. Jermaine is obviously seeing something that I’m not.

I don’t want you guys to think that I’m being mean for no reason because that’s not the case. The winner has the potential to be a star, but, let’s be real, they all do. If they didn’t, they wouldn’t have been invited to be on the show. I just don’t think that this person’s star power overpowered the others’.

I, personally, thought the person that the winner beat out should’ve won. Let me know if you guys agree. If you don’t, then let me know who you think should’ve won.

Anyway, besides all that, I think season 2 of The Rap Game was good. I enjoyed it just like I enjoyed season 1 and I think there might be a season 3. Jermaine has been on Twitter dropping hints, so we’ll probably find out what the deal is in a couple months.

But I’m curious to know what you thought of this season of The Rap Game. Did you love it or hate it? Also, which season do you like best? I think I favor season 2.

I thought the kids were more confident in their talents and I admired everyone’s drive. I also loved that Baltimore had such an amazing rapper (and manager) represent them. Lil Key and his momager were such a powerful duo and I loved watching them on screen.

I can’t wait to see what’s next for each of these young rappers.
