Forward Ports for NBA 2K20

When you are playing NBA 2K20 you might need to forward some ports in your router. Forwarding ports is a useful trick in gaming because it can really help to make your network connection most stable and sometimes even faster. Routers were not designed to allow incoming network requests and some games can play tremendously better if an incoming connection is forwarded through the router to the game.
Before You Forward a Port

Before you can forward a port you need to know the following things:

Your router's IP address.
The IP address of the device that the game will play on: either your computer or your console.
A list of TCP and UDP ports to forward.

How to find your router's IP Address

The easiest way to find your router's IP address is to run our free Router Detector utility. It's a part of the Network Utilities suite of tools and it's completely free to use.
How To Forward Ports

The fastest way to forward a port is to use our Network Utilities suite of tools. With our software you can quickly and easily turn your port forwards on and off for multiple programs at any time. Or just keep reading to learn how to do it by hand.

The usual process for forwarding a port is:

Start by logging in to your router.
Locate your routers port forwarding section.
Put the IP address of your computer or gaming console in the proper box in your router.
Put the TCP and UDP ports for your game in the corresponding boxes in your router.
On occasion you have to reboot your router for the changes to take effect.

The NBA 2K23 “There is a problem with your connection” error is the last thing players want to see when they’re eager to get online and show off their skills. Unfortunately, it’s an error that can appear across PC, PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch platforms. Thankfully, there are some workarounds.

How to fix the NBA 2K23 “There is a problem with your connection” error

To fix the NBA 2K23 “There is a problem with your connection” error, players should:

  • Check NBA 2K social media to see if there is scheduled maintenance or unplanned downtime.
    • The NBA 2K Twitter account is a good place to start for the latest updates on the game and its servers.
  • Check the server status on the official monitoring website here.
    • This website can be used to check services across all platforms and services.
  • Restart the game.
    • Restarting the game can be a simple fix for online issues as it forces the game to retry with a fresh connection.
  • Check your internet connection.
    • Where possible, connect your system using an ethernet cable. While wireless is convenient, it is often less stable and can make for an inconsistent experience in online games.
  • Pause any downloads and uploads using your connection.
    • Eventually, when the game’s servers inevitably shut down, this is the error that will likely appear (as seen with older NBA 2K games).
  • Disconnect and then reconnect your router.
    • Disconnect your router and modem for 60 seconds from the power outlet, then reconnect them to the outlet.

If none of the above solutions fix the issue, the next best step is to contact 2K Support.

NBA 2K23 isn’t the only big new gaming release. The Last of Us Part 1 is out now, but make sure you give the GameRevolution review a read before deciding to purchase it.

Can you play 2K23 MyCareer offline?

MyCareer. This offline story mode is single player and gives you the experience of an NBA career. You can design your character to look like you, by either painstakingly customizing their face, hair and body using the in-game tools, or by doing a face scan using the MyNBA2K23 app on your phone.

Why is my 2K23 my career not working?

Restart your PC or console, and relaunch the game, to see if that flushes out whatever gremlin is causing this bug. If you're on Steam, verify the integrity of your game files. Check the server status of the game - if there is an issue, this could account for the error.

Do you need to be online for MyCareer 2K22?

Yes, playing MyCareer and Franchise mode will not work or let you continue if you're not connected to the internet. You will need to be connected to the internet in order to play in those modes.
