UPDATE – Rey dies Wednesday, April 19 on the US episode as part of Victoria’s big car crash scene. But Jordi’s not shown. Looks like he died off-screen!!

Jordi Vilasuso Shocked by Firing — Young and the Restless Comings and Goings

CBS daytime released Jordi Vilasuso from his contract as Rey Rosales. His last appearances will air in late spring. The actor recently signed a three-year deal with the show.

So, he was shocked to learn he would be written off the program. His agreement included a review in the first six months. And that’s what Y&R used to let him go despite the lengthy contract.

The powers that be have decided his time in Genoa City will end. Jordi publicly thanked Young and the Restless fans for their support. So the big question is – how will the handsome actor leave Y&R?

Why is rey leaving the young and the restless

You can see (above) comments from Melissa Claire Egan (aka Chelsea Newman), Michelle Stafford (aka Phyllis Summers) and of course, Sharon Case (aka Sharon Newman).

As a GCPD detective, he could face an untimely death while on duty. This is the cleanest way to send the character packing. Since Rey and his wife get along well, a problem in their relationship doesn’t make sense.

It seems unlikely he would leave Sharon Newman by choice. No matter the reason, Rey Rosales’ exit opens several romantic possibilities. Stay tuned as Jordi’s final scenes air in the next several weeks.

Of note is that when Vilasuso goes, that means the end of Hispanic representation… His sibling characters are both long gone. So, it’s a hit to diversity on Young and the Restless…

Rey Rosales Exit Leaves Chelsea Newman Lonely — She Purses Adam Newman Again?

Chelsea Newman and Rey recently heated up the screen with some blatant flirting. The pair share definite chemistry. However, with Rey’s impending departure, Chelsea is left to find romance elsewhere.

Adam Newman (Mark Grossman) has moved on with Sally Spectra (Courtney Hope). But it wasn’t that long ago that she saw Sally as a rival. So, will that spark again?

However, Chelsea is not one to back away from a challenge. So she could make a play for her baby daddy. Rey supported her decision to move on from her complicated past with Adam.

But with Rey Rosales leaving, Chelsea could cause real drama for Adam and his new love, Sally. But there’s another option for her. Remember, Chelsea has more than one ex on Young and the Restless.

Young and the Restless Cast Changes Mean Couple Shake-ups: Sharon with Nick?

With Sharon Newman back on the market, several scenarios are possible. She could also cause trouble for Adam and his redhead. However, the Crimson Lights owner recently shared several intimate moments with her ex-husband.

Nick Newman (Joshua Morrow) remained closely connected to Sharon as they co-parent their children. There is still a definite spark between the pair. And he’s single.

Long-time fans clamored for a “Shick” reunion for years. Since his breakup with Phyllis Summers, Nick is one of the most eligible bachelors in town. So he’ll be at Sharon’s side if she tragically becomes a widow.

While many fans are sad to see Rey Rosales leave Genoa City, it opens possibilities. Keep watching to see who ends up with whom in a romantic game of musical chairs on the CBS daytime drama.

Soap Dirt has the most up-to-date Young and the Restless spoilers.

Jordi Vilasuso has portrayed the memorable character of Rey Rosales on The Young & The Restless (Y&R) for the past four years, and he's finally done. Let's look at why he's leaving Y&R and who will replace him.

Jordi Vilasuso is a well-known Cuban-American actor who has starred in several notable roles in the entertainment business. On June 15, 1981, he was born in Miami, Florida, United States, and is now 40 years old. We can learn more about his life by going to his official Wikipedia page.

His portrayal of Tony Santos on the CBS soap opera Guiding Light has been lauded. He's also played Griffin Castilo on All My Children, Dario Hernande on Days of Our Lives, and Rey Rosales on The Young and the Restless, among other roles.

In July 2018, Jordi Vilasuso debuted Rey Rosales on The Young & The Restless daytime drama. However, he is departing the show after four years & many fans are wondering who will take his place on Y&R. Y&R, in particular, is yet to announce a successor for Jordi on the show.

Meanwhile, Jordi has expressed his gratitude to the entire team for their hard work and devotion, and he has sent his best wishes to the Y&R team via social media. On the other side, many supporters have expressed their disappointment with his departure.

Jordi Vilasuso was fired from his role as Rey Rosales on CBS Daytime. In late April, he will make his final appearances. The show recently signed the actor to a three-year contract. As a result, he was surprised to find that he would be dropped from the program. His contract provided for a six-month evaluation. And it was because of this that Y&R decided to let him go despite his long contract.

Jordi Vilasuso, who played Rey on The Young and the Restless, tried to be positive as he announced his departure, saying, "When one door shuts, another opens."

When Vilasuso re-upped his contract, he hoped there would be more stories for Rey to tell in Genoa City. But, as he reflected over the previous few months, he admitted, "Perhaps I should have seen the writing on the wall." The scripts I was given were brief."

He could suffer an unexpected demise while on duty as a GCPD detective. This is the cleanest method of removing the character. Because Rey and his wife get along so well, an issue in their marriage makes no sense.

The show had been building up to a Rey/Chelsea pairing for weeks, which could be storyline gold given that he's married to her onetime competitor for Adam's affections. However, Vilasuso's removal implies that the narrative is doomed before it takes off.

The Young and the Restless hero Rey Rosales (Jordi Vilasuso) may be gone, but he’s not forgotten. Fans are still an emotional wreck over the tragic death of the beloved Genoa City detective. While viewers are grieving along with Sharon Newman (Sharon Case), they’re also experiencing anger.

‘The Young and the Restless’ writers have mishandled Rey Rosales’ death

It’s been three weeks since The Young and the Restless killed Rey. The detective died in a car crash on his way to Crimson Lights. Aside from Rey, Victoria Newman (Amelia Heinle) and Ashland Locke (Robert Newman) were also involved in the wreck but escaped with minor injuries.

Although Rey’s death appeared suspicious, the autopsy report revealed he had a heart attack while driving. Since then, the writers have mishandled the aftermath of Rey’s death. The storyline has been odd between Rey’s body not being shown and most characters finding out offscreen. While fans had mixed feelings about the detective, they feel Rey’s death should’ve been handled with respect.

Rey Rosales’ offscreen memorial was disrespectful to the character and fans

As expected, The Young and the Restless has Rey’s funeral offscreen. Rey’s mother, Celeste Rosales (Eva La Rue), requested his body be brought back to Miami. Sharon agreed with Celeste’s request and left for Florida.

However, Sharon wanted to have a memorial at Crimson Lights with Rey’s friends before her departure. Viewers expected to have a tearjerker scene as Rey’s loved ones remembered the beloved cop. Yet, the show didn’t feature the memorial onscreen. Instead, Sharon and her family discussed how touching the memorial was after the service.

On a Reddit thread, viewers discussed their annoyance with the decision not to show Rey’s memorial.

“I really don’t understand why they did this to his character and the actor. Really upsetting. Like they really couldn’t make him just be in a coma for a while? Or just move away? And then to not even have a funeral,” wrote one viewer.

“They could have had a little gathering at the coffee shop or Society. I wish we could have said goodbye too,” a fan replied.

“It’s bad enough they killed Rey off, but to not actually air his memorial is insulting to the character, the actor, and fans,” another commenter chimed in.

“Honestly this Rey situation looks rushed. Like the writers realized halfway into their April scripts that they had to write Rey off because they couldn’t afford him. So they decided to kill him offscreen and have everyone but Sharon/Chelsea/Chance be nonchalant about it,” one user wrote.

Is the character being erased from ‘The Young and the Restless’ history?

Rey’s death remains a sore subject for The Young and the Restless fans. The rushing of his death and memorial is disrespectful to the character and his fans. Although the show has other storylines, they could’ve spared a few minutes to have a touching tribute for Rey.

With Rey’s funeral officially over, everyone will go about their business as if nothing happened. Sharon is busy helping Mariah Copeland (Camryn Grimes) and Tessa Porter (Cait Fairbanks) with their wedding. While Sharon is trying to remain active, she still grieves for her husband.

Sharon’s grief isn’t going away overnight, and in the coming months, she’ll face hardship as a widow. Yet, as fans know, eventually, she’ll move on into the arms of her ex-husband Nick Newman (Joshua Morrow). With Sharon reuniting with Nick, it’ll be like Rey never existed. Something the writers seem to want fans to think.
