It’s important to know how to
insert a Disc in your PS5 properly to avoid getting it stuck in the tray and damaging the internal components of your console. This is only for people that bought the Standard console. The design of the console could be a little confusing and might make you insert the disc up side down. In this article, I’m referring to the printed side of the disc as the top while the shiny side as the bottom. Just for the sake of this illustration. Before you
even attempt to insert the PS5 disc, make sure the console is sitting properly. The PS5 stand that comes in the box let’s you safely prop the console vertically or horizontally. The first thing you need to do is hold the disc properly as soon as you get it out of the case. Make sure you don’t touch and smudge the shiny side of the disc (the side with data). The printed side of the disc must always be on the same side as the black shiny part of the console whether the console is vertical or horizontal.  To insert the Disc in your PS5, you don’t need a lot of force. Gently slide the disc into the slot and when you get a little past halfway, the console should recognize the disc and pull it inside. You should NEVER force the Disc inside. If the console does not pull the disc inside, remove and find out why. There could be another disc inside the console so press the Eject button to see. Whoops! It's kind of hilarious that we even have to write this post, but here we are. A lot of new PlayStation 5 users are booting their consoles up for the first time and either diving
straight into a next-gen game or grabbing a free upgrade of a PlayStation 4 title. However, a significant amount of them are inserting the discs in the wrong way round. This means that the physical media isn't being recognised, causing some to worry and take to the internet in search of help. Where the PS5 game icon normally is, the text "Unsupported Disc"
is displayed while a pop-up message reads: "This disc isn't supported by the PS5". So, here we are to tell you the correct way to insert a disc into the console. If the PS5 is placed vertically, insert the disc with the label facing left. If the PS5 is placed horizontally, insert the disc with the label facing upwards. With the next-gen consoles now officially in the hands of players, everyone is quick to notice how different they’re from last-gen and what kind of things were pioneered. However, along with pioneering RTX, and many other technologies, seems like Sony has pioneered themselves a bizarre design. There is no getting around the fact that the PS5 has an unusual appearance. Whether we like it or not, we are stuck with it until they release different versions of the PS5. This bizarre physical appearance didn’t just generate some hate towards it, but also some issues. The main problem that players are having is inserting their disc properly into the PS5. It might sound trivial, but since its release, many people have fallen victim to inserting the disc the wrong way. Thankfully, for now, there aren’t many cases where doing this has resulted in a PS5 funereal. How to Properly Insert a Disc in the PS5?It’s important to say a few things before giving you a proper explanation on how to do this. The plate on which there is a disc reader, should be on the bottom if you’re using the PS5 horizontally. So, the disc’s face (the game cover side), should be facing the top, i.e. when inserting the disc, make sure to have the disc’s facing the plate which doesn’t have a disk reader. The main thing that needs to be taken away from this is that the disc’s face, always needs to face the opposite side-plate of the PS5. Furthermore, make sure you place the PS5 on the side-plate which has the disc reader if you’re using it horizontally. In the middle, you will find both the eject and the power button. The eject button is on the right when the PS5 is positioned flat, and the power button is on the left. People are speculating on whether this was a deliberate design, or it’s a designer error. Nevertheless, with Sony, chances are that they have though about this, but chose to go for this look. Whether you’re a fan of it or not, we are stuck with the weird PS5 design until Sony chooses to release the other versions.
