How to Wash Hey Dudes

Most shoes can be safely cleaned in the water except for Suede, Leather and Wool type materials.

Step 1

Remove Laces & Insoles

Laces may get tangled and memory foam insoles will ruin in the wash.

Step 2

Use Liquid Detergent

Use a tiny amount of liquid detergent because powdered detergent can cause irritation.

Step 3

Wash on Delicate/Light

Set washer on a delicate cycle using only cold water to help preserve the longevity and prevent shrinking or warping.

Step 4

Air Dry

Do not use the dryer for your shoes. Dry them outside or indoors, but remember to keep them out of direct sunlight to avoid bleaching or damaging the fabric.

Now that everyone has a pair, we’re all asking,  how do you clean Hey Dude Shoes?? Is it safe to put them in your washing machine? Should you just hand wash them? Can you throw your Hey Dude Shoes in the dryer? What do you do with the insoles? Well, we’re here to answer your how-to-clean Q’s; and we can’t wait to get started! Please note that these tips are for MOST Hey Dude Shoes, EXCEPT FOR suede, leather, and wool styles!!

How to Wash Hey Dudes: A Quick Tutorial

1. Find a dirty pair of Hey Dude Shoes that you would like to revitalize. (We took a pair that had literally been stomped through the mud!)

2. Rinse off any big chunks off dirt in order to prep them for your washing machine.

3. Remove the insoles & laces! If you want to wash these parts of your shoes, you should hand wash them with a mild dish detergent and then leave them to dry flat. You can also purchase replacement insoles online.

4. How to wash colored Hey Dudes: Wash them in your washing machine on a Delicate, Hand Wash or Light setting. Add in a very small amount of your favorite liquid detergent and only wash them in cold water to keep your shoes from shrinking. Also make sure to choose Slow spin or no spin if you can to reduce wrinkles!

5. How to wash white Hey Dudes: Spray them all over with Dawn Powerwash and then let that sit for at least an hour. Then you can rinse out the Dawn and scrub them gently with any soft cleaning brush. Run a sink half full with warm water and mix in a half of a cup of Out White Bright. Place your white Hey Dude Shoes with their fabric tops down in the water and place something on top of them so that all of the fabric is fully submerged. Leave them to soak like this for at least two hours! After this time is up, just toss them in your washing machine and wash them alone in cold water without any other detergents.

6. AIR DRY! If you use the machine dryer for your shoes they will shrink or warp. We recommend drying them in a place that is not affected by direct sunlight because the rays can damage the fabrics

7. If you notice that the bottom soles of your shoes are still stained, Magic Erasers can help to make the bottoms as good as new!

8. Replace your insoles and laces and rock your revived Hey Dude Shoes!
