The Flash is back for its eighth season on The CW and will be coming to Netflix in multiple Netflix regions either weekly or shortly after the show has wrapped up. Here’s an updated release schedule for season 8 of The Flash on Netflix.

Based on the DC comic book, The Flash is still one of The CW’s biggest and oldest shows on the network starting back in 2014. We’ve seen many of the older Arrowverse shows come to a close with The CW shifting to a new era of characters including Naomi, Superman, and Batwoman none of which come to Netflix.

When will The Flash season 8 be airing on The CW?

The Flash isn’t delayed into midseason like it was for season 7 given production delays but it didn’t return to its regular slot.

Instead, new episodes have begun airing as of November 16th. It kicks starts with the long-awaited Armageddon Crossover event which covers the fifth graphic novel.

The show’s eighth season will run for 20 episodes. The show started its 5 episode run on The CW before heading into a break. Episode 6 began airing from March 9th onwards with the finale set for June 29th, 2022.

When will The Flash season 8 be on Netflix US?

Let’s begin with the United States as that’s where the largest audience for What’s on Netflix lies.

In the US, the show still comes to Netflix via a prior output deal Netflix struck with The CW. This deal (which ended in 2019), means that all shows will come to Netflix for the lifetime of the show plus 5 years. The deal also brings shows to Netflix around 8 days after their season finale airs.

In June 2022 we got confirmation that the show will be coming to Netflix in the exact manner as outlined above with all episodes of season 8 confirmed to release on July 7th, 2022.

This date is subject to change we’ll likely have updates as to get towards the release date.

Many Netflix Regions Will Receive Weekly Episodes of The Flash Season 8

Elsewhere, Netflix gets weekly episodes of The Flash. That includes locations such as The Netherlands, Greece, Israel, Belgium, Romania, Slovakia, Portugal, and Canada.

If you’ve received weekly episodes in the past, you will again in 2021/2022 as well. New episodes air on Tuesdays in the United States and will drop on Netflix on the following Thursday morning.

Some regions, according to Unogs, are still waiting for season 7 to be added which is expected to happen in late 2021 or early 2022.

Season 8 of The CW's The Flash saw some big challenges for Team Flash. Not only did the heroes each level up in their powers, they also dealt with one of the most complicated challenges they've ever faced as well as one of their biggest losses. On top of that, there was the whole Armageddon of it all, a new speedster, the return of Eobard Thawne, and then the return of Reverse Flash, too. It's no exaggeration to say that Season 8 was a lot for The Flash and if fans want to relive the most recent season of the popular DC series or get caught up on anything they've missed, they're in luck. Season 8 of The Flash is now streaming on Netflix.

Season 8 of The Flash kicked off with Armageddon, a five-episode crossover event that saw Barry Allen/The Flash (Grant Gustin) faced with the very real possibility that his actions would bring about the end of the world and while that was soon resolved, much of the rest of the season saw Barry and the rest of the team trying to resolve Iris' strange time sickness while also taking on some truly terrifying threats, such as Deathstorm. The team also dealt with the death of Frost, who ended up sacrificing herself to defeat Deathstorm and save Caitlin (Danielle Panabaker). It's the most devastating loss Team Flash has ever faced, one that will have repercussions going into Season 9 of the series as well as Caitlin hasn't exactly given up on trying to bring her sister back.

Season 8 of The Flash was eventful in other ways as well. This most recent television cycle saw Supergirl conclude its run and The CW cancelled Batwoman and DC's Legends of Tomorrow as well. The Flash was renewed for a ninth season making it the longest running series in the network's Arrowverse, but it won't return into 2023, premiering at midseason rather this fall. That means fans have a bit of a wait to see what's next, but when the show does return, showrunner Eric Wallace says there will be more fun and romance.

"One of the goals for next year is to have maximum fun and up the romance," Wallace said. "That's something I'm looking forward to. In Season 9, the crisis is gone, and Barry and Iris can be back together full time, so bring on the sexy."

He also noted that while horror was a big component of Season 8, he's a big fan of romantic comedies, so maybe we'll get some of that next season.

"I do love a good rom-com," Wallace said. "People think I just love horror movies. Literally, my second favorite genre is romantic comedies. So, who knows? Maybe we'll get a little bit of that next year. Wink, wink, nudge, nudge."
