Toyota 4Runner vs Sequoia vs Land Cruiser

While at first glance the 2021 4Runner and the 2021 Land Cruiser look very similar, once you take a good look, you’ll notice that the Land Cruiser is taller, wider, and longer than the 4Runner. However, the 4Runner comes in nine trims, whereas the Land Cruiser only offers two. You can get some great off-roading features if you opt for one of the 4Runner’s TRD trims or the Trail Special Edition trim. With the Land Cruiser, you get front and rear frame-mounted tow hooks, mudguards in the front and rear, and skid plates on either model.

Capability

Both of these SUVs are capable of taking on almost any terrain with ease, but you’ll find that for extreme off-road adventures, the Land Cruiser slightly outperforms the 4Runner. Under the hood of the 4Runner, you get a 4.0-liter V-6 engine that generates 270 horsepower and 278 pound-feet of torque. The Land Cruiser has a more powerful 5.7-liter V-8 engine that delivers up to 381 horsepower and 401 pound-feet of torque. With the 4Runner, you’ll have a five-speed electronically controlled transmission to move you through the gears, while the Land Cruiser pairs its engine with an eight-speed electronically controlled transmission.

Comfort

Comfort features you’ll enjoy when you choose the 4Runner include fabric or SofTex-trimmed seats, a center console with storage, and an available sliding rear cargo deck with underfloor storage. Higher trims offer more comforts like all-weather floor mats and an auto-dimming rearview mirror. When you go with the Land Cruiser, you’ll get four-zone climate control, perforated leather-trimmed seating surfaces, a leather-trimmed heated steering wheel, a leather-trimmed shift knob, and a center console with a cooler box.

Technology

You can look forward to lots of modern tech in either of these SUVs. In the 4Runner, you’ll find an 8-inch touch screen that’s compatible with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto as well as Bluetooth wireless technology. The Land Cruiser features a 9-inch touch screen with integrated navigation to help you reach your destination. This model also has a 14-speaker JBL audio system and Siri Eyes Free technology as well as an advanced voice recognition system.

Safety

Toyota Safety Sense P is standard for both the 4Runner and the Land Cruiser. This safety system includes helpful driver aids like a pre-collision system with pedestrian detection, dynamic radar cruise control, automatic high beams, and lane departure alert. If you want your SUV to have blind-spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alert, front and rear parking assist, and a backup camera that displays your projected path, choose the Land Cruiser.

As you can see, both of these exceptional Toyota SUVs offer great features that ensure you’re comfortable, connected, and ready to take on all of your adventures in style! If you’d like to take these models out for a spin, stop by Priority Toyota of Hampton today for a test drive.

The Toyota 4Runner and Sequoia are both iconic SUVs with proven dependability. But how is the Toyota Sequoia different from the 4Runner? Which option is the better SUV for your family? Let’s dive in and see how the Toyota 4Runner and Sequoia are different.

The Toyota 4Runner VS the Toyota Sequoia

If you’ve made it this far, you may be wondering why the Toyota 4Runner and Sequoia are still around. They’re certainly older than the Toyota RAV4, the popular two-row SUV. Plus, the Toyota Highlander has three rows of seats too.

The 2020 Toyota Sequoia starts with a hefty price of around $49k, and the 2020 Toyota 4Runner starts around $36k. The Sequoia costs more partly because it’s much larger. While the Toyota 4Runner is available with a 3rd row, it’s much smaller than the 3rd row found in the Sequoia.

You’ll find up to 89.7 cubic feet of cargo space in the Toyota 4Runner. However, the Toyota Sequoia provides up to 120.1 cubic feet of cargo space. The 4Runner has plenty of space for adults in the second row, but smaller children should climb in the 3rd row. Meanwhile, the Sequoia comes with eight seats that are incredibly spacious for adults.

Toyota 4Runner and Sequoia tech

The Toyota Sequoia comes with a few more creature comforts than the 4Runner. It has tri-zone climate control to keep your entire family comfortable. Also, smart key comes standard with every Sequoia trim.

The Toyota 4Runner offers a dual-zone climate control system, which is still great, and you can pay to upgrade to the smart key feature. Both of these SUVs come with large infotainment centers and connect to Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, built-in navigation, Wi-fi hotspots, and more.

Toyota Sequoia and 4Runner power

The 2020 Toyota 4Runner has a robust 4.0-liter V6 engine that cranks out 270 horsepower and 278 lb-ft of torque. It can tow up to 5,000 lb, which is excellent for boats and campers. Also, it’s an off-roading beast.
