What cars is Ford coming out with in 2022?

The primary focus for Ford Australia next year will be the new Ford Ranger ute and Ford Everest SUV – which account for 80 per cent of the brand's sales. But there are some other models worth waiting for.

As previously reported, the new Ford Ranger ute is due in Australian showrooms about the middle of 2022, pending any unforeseen delays.

The Ford Everest four-wheel-drive – the Ranger's SUV twin under the skin – is due to arrive soon after, if not at the same time.

The Ford Ranger Raptor – which Drive previously revealed is expected to be powered by a twin-turbo petrol V6 paired to a 10-speed automatic – is due in the second half of 2022, if all goes to plan.

Other highlights include the mid-life facelift versions of the Ford Fiesta ST and Ford Focus ST hot hatches, as well as a plug-in hybrid version of the Ford Escape and an electric version of the Ford Transit van (sadly the Mustang Mach-E electric SUV is not planned for Australia at this time).

In the first few months of 2022 we should also see another update to the Ford Mustang muscle car (now with burnout mode, previously only available in the US).

It is unclear if this is the last update to the Mustang before an all-new model arrives, or if there will be yet another limited edition before the sun sets on this model.

To help better spread its bets beyond the Ranger ute and Everest SUV – rather than relying so heavily on these two vehicles – Ford Australia needs other models in its showrooms to find more customers.
