I have never made a pie, but this was easier than I thought. I did watch a few YouTube videos to get my bearings on pie making. My husband hasn't had an apple pie for 6 years because he has to be gluten free. To surprise him, I tried this. He loved it so much. And the whole family loved it. They loved the crust. Very flaky and tasty. Can't wait to try a cherry pie. Reviews with imagesTop reviews from the United StatesThere was a problem filtering reviews right now. It is best when made in a good processor Reviewed in the United States on May 28, 2020 I'm so thankful that I found this pie crust flour! It tastes great and is easy to make. No need to add eggs, which is another thing I have to avoid for health reasons. No gluten, no eggs! It is a bit crumbly, but that doesn't affect the taste so who cares? Ree Drummond has a recipe for making crackers and stuff with pie crust, and that's how I use this. It's so hard to find gluten free crackers or snacks that taste good, aren't too heavy on the garlic, etc. I just roll out this pie crust, sprinkle it with brown sugar and cinnamon, or parmesan and pepper, or whatever I feel like using, bake it just until it's starting to turn golden brown, now I have some delicious gluten free snacks for munchie time! I make the crackers a bit thicker than a pie crust, though. Reviewed in the United States on January 23, 2022 one of the four packages was either opened or had a malformed seal on it and most of the contents of that bag was in the bottom of the box. Reviewed in the United States on March 18, 2020 This pie crust mix is GREAT! The directions are clear and simple and the crust mixes up just like when I used to make wheat-flour based pie crust before my celiac diagnosis. One package makes 2 generous crusts, big enough for deep dish pies. I followed the directions for using a pastry blender and it came out perfect. And - best of all - IT TASTES LIKE PIE CRUST! No funny after-taste or gummy film in your mouth. Crusts bake evenly, and are tender and flaky. They don't over-brown, either; I did not need to cover the edges to prevent burning. I used them at Thanksgiving for my pumpkin pies and my sister in law, who also has celiac, nearly cried with joy. Thank you, thank you, Bob's Red Mill! Reviewed in the United States on May 15, 2016 This is a great gluten free crust mix. You don't need any unusual ingredients to add to this mix like some of the others. It just calls for butter, shortening and water. OR just butter or just shortening. You can you use either or if you don't have both. Which is great because I don't use shortening. So I make this with all butter. I made cherry pie with it and it turned out great. Even had scraps left to make little heart cutouts for the top. But like all gluten free crusts, you must expect that it's not as easy to work with as reg pie crust. I roll it out on two pieces of overlapped plastic wrap since one isn't wide enough. It definitely takes some patience but my pies always look like regular pies. No one can tell the crusts are gluten free. They taste the same too. Only problem I have is one I seem to have with all gluten free, well all pie crusts in general. The edges getting too over cooked. I put the foil with the whole cut out, I bought the pie edge protectors, but still have this problem. I think I'm going to cover the pie from the start next time and take off the foil for the end of the cooking time. Reviewed in the United States on July 30, 2021 Love this product. But can't have often to many carbs 😕. Great flavor Reviewed in the United States on August 1, 2020 I've had to live GF for 25 years and pie and pizza crust were the most difficult to find a good recipe. The Bobs Red Mill mix is a little pricey but makes up for it by being easy. Just add shortening and water in food processor, and roll out between plastic wrap sheets. The flavor and texture are outstanding, light and flavorful. My kids used to avoid my GF pies like the plague, now I have to hide them! lol Reviewed in the United States on November 30, 2014 Being new to making gluten Free Pies I was more concerned with the filling at this point than the crust and Bob's has not disappointed me yet so I gave it a try. Made Dutch Apple Pie for Thanksgiving and it was a hit. The crust is like a butter cookie which complimented the apples. The instructions were clear cut and easy to follow. The only change that I would make or add to is the use of cooking spray. To chill I placed it between wax paper ( also suggest baking paper) and when I took it out of the frig it stuck. No big deal had to reform and re-roll. Spraying paper with cooking spray would avoid the step backwards. Light spray to pie dish making sure to get lip of dish will also help when removing pie pieces and cleaning pie dish. I did use the food processor for mixing even when adding ice water. Other than that issue with preference to using cooking spray, my family was happy with the results. I was even complimented on my crust :) My son's were looking for the second pie. What is a substitute for apple cider vinegar in a pie crust?Red wine or white wine vinegar
The best substitute for apple cider vinegar? Red wine or white wine vinegar! These vinegars are made from fermented wine, and you might have one or the other in your cupboard already. Red wine vinegar is a little stronger than white wine with a bolder flavor.

Can you use milk in a pie crust instead of water? The more fat you've got in your crust, the better it will taste and the better its texture. We use European-style cultured butter with a butterfat content of at least 83 percent. We also use whole milk instead of water—another way to inject more fat into the crust, and a key ingredient for getting it super flaky.
