Q: Is Everything Everywhere All at Once worth watching in theaters?

Without a doubt, one of the best movies of 2022 has been Everything Everywhere All At Once. Our own Jacob Hall gave the film a rare 10 out of 10 in his review from SXSW, but no need to take his word for it.

Not only is it a good movie, but there are so many parallels both story-wise and philosophically to the Matrix series

I listened to the Directors guild of America podcast and one of the Daniels mentioned the Matrix as a major inspiration

EEAO definitely owes a huge debt to the Matrix, and yet it uses the template to create something that’s more emotionally resonant to me than even the first Matrix. I’m sure Lana would be a huge fan of the film.

i got to see a fancy pants screening (thanks A24 +@DavisTheater 😀) of Daniels film #EverythingEverywhere All at Once last week. if ever there were a time for a kung fu action film that ruminates on combating nihilism and hopelessness it is now. super nourishing! ❤️👊

Is it a comedy? I don't really enjoy comedies, and while this film looks interesting... it's apparently also "hilarious"?

Ok hear me out....My first pass with Everything Everywhere All At Once was rough goings. I went into the film excepting to see Michelle Yeoh (crouching tiger hidden dragon boyhood hero) be in another film that was unlike anything I had seen. I watched a very short promo clip and immediately wanted to see it. When I went to see it I don't know how exactly to describe my initial thoughts upon realizing that this film was going to be like the Matrix... I was thinking the film would be showing Evelyn in many different lives but I didn't expect a, " SHE'S THE ONE and needs to download her other skills" aspect. I was off put I can't lie. But I stuck with the film and I didn't hate it or want too upon my first viewing. I decided to see it again, almost like I knew I didn't give it a fair go around the first time, and I'm glad I did. I still don't know if im read to praise it the way I often hear others. But man in a time of such bland and boring cinema I can at least say this film is anything but that. It does have a ton of character and there is a great message that is delivered without being to overbearing. In a time where it seems studios and directors constantly grab for the low hanging political-socio trending fruit, man I do appreciate this film.

I know this will begin a fight but I felt like this movie was so well made and used this really creative structure to hammer home an emotional story. That is what I think resurrections tried to do but didn’t do for me.

Would highly recommend to see others thoughts.

It’s so fucking dumb, I feel like we’re in 2005. Here in Sweden the premiere isn’t until the 20 may. I’ve got to wait 10 more days, when it’s been out for weeks in USA.
