How to remove Tinder shadowban Reddit

I have seen multiple posts on reddit as well as other sites exploring this question. Most take a similar approach "if you have been resetting your account then maybe you are shadowbanned" but very few posts/sites give definitive answers.

In my case, I had not been resetting my profile but I was using a custom made swipe bot a year or so ago to auto swipe on both Tinder and Bumble. I am not sure what sort of detection tech they use but I can definitely say that Bumble's is more effective than Tinder's. This is surprising because both of them are owned by the same company.

These days, I have stopped using my bot and I get 2-3 matches/week on Tinder but none on Bumble. Forget about the matches, I don't even get Likes on Bumble. And after 10-15 minutes of swiping Bumble tells me I am out of people to match as well. They must have shadow banned me sometime in the past due to botting.

My thoughts?

I feel it is useless to circumvent shadowbans. I have tried a different device, different IP, different location, different number and different email but it works on Bumble for max 1 day before its algorithm detects and flags my profile. I definitely feel they use facial recognition to flag your photos so removing or adding a pixel, cleaning out the metadata or a bunch of other hacks won't really work or would only work short term. Hell, if you are dedicated enough and get a bunch of new pictures clicked to use them in your profile then that wouldn't work either because you can't change your face. Having worked on facial recognition algorithms (university projects), I know for a fact that these algorithms won't be thrown off by a random pixel or a new outfit or even a new picture location...these algorithms record the features of your face and based on probability, they decide whether they have seen you before or not.

Remember the prompts you see? "Users with 3 pictures have far more chance of success". It might be true to an extent but it is really about establishing that confidence level for the algorithm rather than helping you get those matches.

Lets take an example to understand this: Suppose my algorithm sees a picture and it is about 95% sure that I have seen this picture on a banned profile before so there is about 5% chance that the algorithm is mistaken. 5% is 1/20 so the algorithm is going to mistake 1 picture in every 20 pictures it sees. BUT, say you have 2 pictures on your profile so the probabilities of mistake are now 5% on your first picture and 5% on your second picture which is 1/400 for your overall profile. That is the chance that algorithm is making a mistake is now 1 profile in every 400 profiles.

3 pictures? 1 in 8000 profiles. The more pictures you have the more certain algorithm is.

Bottomline? Shadow bans are real, facial recognition is real and no matter how many devices you get, it is unlikely you will evade it in long term. The best thing to do is to go out and meet people offline because dating apps are dystopian Orwellian hell that aren't gonna do you any good if you have been shadow banned even once.

I've had like, over 200-300 matches on my free account in a relatively short period (even up to 580), most of them would be pretty/hot girls, plus living in a smaller country and smaller city, aka even more limited opportunities. Then when I ran out of sexy women for swiping, I reset my account and proved that I knew what I was doing, other pics, different bio, and got the same results all over.

And when I reset my account for the 3rd time, or 4th, I can't remember; I would be getting some likes initially, 7-13, and that would supposedly mean that I am not shadowbanned, yet I was, cause I could match only with those girls when I encounter them, but not any other girls that I would swipe on. So I deleted, and created again, different phone number, e-mail, IP...yet, nothing again, and even fewer likes, 3-5 waiting, matched with a couple of those, and nothing new, for two weeks, def. Shadowban. Screw Tinder.

Some people say that your data would be gone on the server after three months, and then your ELO score may improve again, but I doubt.

How I got banned: I kept resetting my account. I deleted and recreated my account way too many times. I think I should've at least gotten a warning before I got shadow banned :/

How I noticed I got shadowbanned: I got the ability to send unlimited likes and superlikes. I got no new matches. I couldn't delete my account either.

How I unbanned myself: I used my tablet with VPN and fake phone number.

How you could unfuck yourself from shadowban too:

  1. If you want to be safe, go ahead and use another device.

  2. Either get a new phone number or use "Textme" app on playstore. https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.textmeinc.textme

  3. Get any VPN. I used turbo VPN

  4. Make a new google account. It literally takes 5 minutes or less.

  5. If you got textme app, open it and make a new US phone number. It's free.

  6. Delete tinder and reinstall. Dont open it yet.

  7. Turn on VPN on the device you have tinder installed on.

  8. Open tinder. Go to phone verification. Dont press google account verification or facebook verification.

  9. Type in your Textme app number or your new phone number to verify.

(It took me about a minute or two to get the verification code from Textme app. Give it some time. If it still doesnt come, go ahead and make a new Textme account phone number.)

10. Verify. And then use your new google account to login.

11. Try not to use your same pictures and description. If you want to, try to crop a little bit out and/or apply a tiny bit of filter.

12. Test if your account works fine. Make sure to use VPN whenever you open tinder. Or you can just reset your WIFI router.
