This game's cycle is almost over, game 1 of the WS of tonight. So let's discuss 22.

One of the biggest things SDS did was not only bring it to Xbox, but put it on Game Pass, which exponentially increased the player base.

I'm just curious if you guys think 22 will be on Game Pass as well or if this was a one time thing.

Highly doubt '22 is on GamePass. They were really smart to make '21 "free" for Xbox users. A lot of first-timers are now hooked on The Show. Should have great sales for '22 on Xbox.

I don't think SDS put it on GamePass. Reports are they were surprised by that announcement.

I haven't heard this. I thought Game Pass was always agreed on by both Microsoft and the game publisher (SDS, in this case)?

Anyone saying one or another is just speculating. It will ultimately come down to whether Microsoft pays up for it again. Who knows, maybe the initial contract is for multiple years.

For my guess, I'd say probably not for the reasons people have stated. For a reason not stated, it seems rare for a third party to continue adding their games to it. EA seems to be the only one and that's after like a six month or so delay.

I'm honestly surprised it stayed on Game Pass for the entire season. I think SDS said that MLB is the one that had them put it Day 1 on Game Pass, and it wasn't necessarily their decision. MLB probably did that to increase awareness of the game/baseball in general, which I think it did (I'm someone who stopped watching baseball years ago, but came back after I started playing The Show). No clue if it being on Game Pass met their internal expectations or if they think they can get more out of having it on the platform for another year. But I honestly will plan on buying The Show 22, and will be pleasantly surprised if it's on Game Pass again.

SDS didnt put it on game pass. MLB wanted Microsoft to put it on game pass. I doubt they put it on game pass now because i bet a ton of people that had it on game pass will pay full price.

For the record Sony never wanted to put The Show on Xbox let alone game pass. The MLB that gives Sony licensing for the The Show made that decision because they felt like using Microsoft’s game pass platform would be a great way to get more people engaged in baseball. It’s up to MLB’s licensing team if they are gonna keep it on the game pass in the future which I think would be smart for the MLB as a whole.

If their metrics show that: gamepass revenue + microtransactions from gamepass users > expected xbox sales (ps sales x ratio of xbox to ps users) + expected microtransactions from xbox users, it will probably will be.

Maybe they'll do a survey of some sort and ask if you would buy it were it not on gamepass and cross reference with $ your username spent on micros or something.

I tried the show on gamepass then ended up buying the Jackie Robinson edition bc I liked it and wanted to show my support

Absolutely not, they actually want people to buy the game.

It was only put on there for the first Xbox release to let everyone know its now on Xbox.
