Solid red CPU light on motherboard Reddit

Hey!

I've been trying plenty of solutions I read online but nothing seems to work, so here I am.

I've built my own computer one week ago and except some RAM problem at the beginning, everything went fine. The PC has booten a dozen of times and was doing great before today. The whole computer just shut down while browsing internet and wouldn't boot again. Nothing but a black screen on the monitor whenever I try to turn it on.

Fans are running well but the weird thing is that CPU red LED on the motherboard. I also can't turn the computer off by pressing the button on the top of the case. I have to use the PSU On/Off one. The fans will turn on as soon as I press the PSU button again, except if I plug and unplug the power cord : then I'll have to press the case's power button.

Here is a list of things I've tried :

- Removing and reinserting the CPU and its fan. All the pins were looking good.

- Using another power outlet (basically swapped the ones used by monitor and PSU).

- Swapping the RAM sticks & trying with only one stick.

- Using another HDMI and DP cables.

- Checking all the wires connections.

-Checking the GPU.

- Removing the CMOS battery for a while, trying to boot without it.

- Flash-updating the BIOS with an USB key (I can't even access it, even when pressing DEL).

And here are my specs :

CPU : AMD Ryzen 5 3600 + Wraith Stealth Cooler

GPU : GeForce RTX 2060

Motherboard : MSI B450 Gaming Plus Max

RAM : Corsair Vengeance LPX 2*8Go (3600 mhz)

PSU : Seasonic GX-550

Case : NZXT H510

Edit : Didn't except to get so many answers, thank you so much to everyone here! I tried a few of your ideas but the problem remains. As advised I'll refund my CPU and give another one a go. Let's hope the motherboard isn't the one that fails me here! I'll update about it later then. :)

Last Edit : Sorry, totally forgot to update! Unfortunately, replacing the CPU and the motherboard didn't work. I had to try out a new PSU and everything booted up instantly. No problem since. Thank you all for your help. :)

I received my new PC, I assembled everything, but couldn't boot it: there's a red CPU led on the motherboard.

PC SPECS | PICTURE

• While assembling, I realized the AIO actually needed other screws to fit the LGA1700 motherboard. I ordered the retrofit kit from Corsair (the screws have the same length on both side for me), but after changing them in the PC, no change: red led.

• I suspect I screwed a wire up with the AIO (the Corsair manual is minimalistic~). From the pump, I have 1 Y-cable with a 3-pin side (that I put on a 4-pin on the mobo), and a PSU one that I linked to it. Then the 2 top AIO fans have an adapter to only have 1 4-pin that I tried to plug either in the top next to the pump one on a fan spot, or in the bottom on a pump spot (which looks quite low for the pump wire itself, but they're all the same anyway?).

• Reading the Internet, I also checked the CPU (the pins look ok), the PSU to the mobo, a CMOS clear. Of course, the CPU can be faulty as well, but I'm more likely the culprit I guess (and I don't know how to test it alone). Last, since I've done many experiments, I may need to already reapply thermal paste (though it wouldn't prevent the PC from booting?).

Very new to builds. I did a new build with my son. We get everything together and turn it on..... no post.

Just a solid red cpu light.

I am using a ryzen 5 2600 MSI x470 gaming plus board. Ballistix Sport LT 8GB Single DDR4 2666 MT/s (PC4-21300) DR x8 DIMM 288-Pin Memory - BLS8G4D26BFSE I have two of these.

When I power up with one or both sticks of RAM I get the CPU light. No beeps, just a solid light. When I power up with no RAM than the ram light comes on and not the CPU light. And it beeps.

Please help me. We want to play some games and can’t even get a display.

So i bought this motherboard bundle on ebay the other day Below are the pc parts -

MSI Z170A Tomahawk

I5 6600k

8gb ddr4 ram

gtx 1050ti 4gb gigabyte (mini)

600w EVGA PSU

1TB segate barracuda

What ive tried so far -

Reset cmos 3 different ways (removing the cmos battery, shorting the JBAT1 connector with a screwdriver, with the cmos button on the io of the mobo)

switched ram slots

unplugged everything and replugged it (including cpu power cable)

tried booting without gpu and with gpu (changing the display connection each time)

After all of this there is no post to the monitor

Ive looked through almost every forum that i possibly could and im slowly starting to really get annoyed. The ebay seller is certain that it was working but i can never be 100% sure even thought they have quite a lot of reputation on ebay as a "posotive seller".

If anyone thinks they can help in anyway please do so it would be much appreciated, i dont want to sleep until i get this fixed!
