FLEX SEAL®

Q: How long does it take to dry?

A: Dry time depends on the temperature, humidity, and thickness of the coating. Flex Seal® will usually dry to the touch within 2 to 3 hours and fully cure in 24 hours. It will get stronger over time.

Q: How much will one can of it cover?

A: Depending on the number of coats and thickness, one 14 oz. can will cover up to 12 sq. ft. and one MINI 2 oz. can will cover up to 2 sq. ft.

Q: How much pressure will it withstand?

A: Flex Seal® will withstand normal hydrostatic water pressure such as rainwater, but it is not made to withstand extreme pressure.

Q: Can I apply it on a wet surface?

A: Flex Seal® can be applied on a wet surface, or moist environment in the event of an emergency. However, it will always adhere better to a clean, dry surface. To ensure its longevity, we recommend you reapply Flex Seal once the area is completely dry.

Q: How long will it last?

A: Depending on the environment, coats added, and maintenance, many people have found Flex Seal® will last for years without cracking, peeling or losing any of its strength or sealing properties.

Q: Can I paint it on or brush it on instead of spraying?

A: Yes, you can spray the Flex Seal® directly into a bowl and paint it, brush it or roll it on any area. However, we recommend using Flex Seal® Liquid for these types of applications.

Q: Can I use it to seal the inside of a water tank used for drinking?

A: No, we do not recommend that you use Flex Seal® on surfaces where it comes in direct contact with drinking water.

Q: Can I use it to fix radiators, tires or other areas with extreme heat and pressure?

A: No, Flex Seal is not made to withstand extreme heat or pressure.

Q: Can I use it on a gasoline tank?

A: No, Flex Seal should not be used to seal a gasoline tank, oil tank or any other flammable material.

Q: Is Flex Seal associated with GAF?

A: No, it is not affiliated with GAF and is not intended for use by Professional Roofers.

Q: Is Flex Seal® Clear the same formula as Flex Seal® Original and Brite?

A: In order to give Flex Seal® Clear its amazing transparency, we had to make some adjustments to our formula. Therefore, the spray will be slightly thinner and multiple coats may be required to get the job done.

FLEX TAPE®

Q: What temperature should I apply it?

A: Flex Tape® can be applied in a wide range of temperatures, from 20° F to 120° F.

Q: Can I paint over it?

A: Most paints will not adhere to Flex Tape®. However, Flex Seal® Spray may be used as a primer to transform the appearance of surfaces where Flex Tape® has been applied.

Q: I’m trying to adhere it to fabric, but it’s not sticking. Is there anything I can do to prep the surface?

A: Flex Tape® can be heated with a standard hair dryer to help the adhesive bond with the fabric. Also, continued firm pressure and time will help increase adhesion. Some customers have found it helpful to first prep a fabric surface with Flex Seal® Spray, let it dry, and then apply Flex Tape®.

Q: Can I use it on my radiator hose?

A: No. We do not recommend using Flex Tape® on radiator hoses.

Q: Can I use it on a tank used to hold gas or oil?

A: No. We do not recommend using Flex Tape® on a gas or oil tank.

Q: Can I use it to repair a car or bicycle tire?

A: No. We do not recommend using Flex Tape® to repair tires due to the extreme pressure.

Q: Can I use it on a container that holds water for drinking?

A: It has not been tested on potable drinking water.

Q: What is the maximum pressure it can withstand?

A: The maximum pressure Flex Tape® can withstand will vary based on the substrate and the conditions under which it is applied. It’s always best to test a small area first.

Q: If I’m using it to patch an above ground pool, is it best to apply it to the inside or the outside of the pool?

A: Both! Flex Tape® forms a super strong bond with itself, so if you’re patching a pool it’s best to first apply Flex Tape to the interior side of the pool wall and then place a second piece of Flex Tape® to the exterior. Remember to cut your Flex Tape® larger than the area of the leak. You do not need to drain the pool prior to applying it. Flex Tape® is a temporary, emergency repair and is not meant to be a permanent fix.

Q: Can I use it to repair an air mattress or inflatable?

A: Flex Tape® can be used as a temporary, emergency repair to an air mattress or inflatable. However, it may not bond with all materials. Always test before use.

FLEX GLUE™

Q: Can I smooth or tool it once it has been applied?

A: Yes, Flex Glue™ can be tooled or re-positioned within 10 minutes of initial application.

Q: Can it be painted?

A: Yes, once dry, Flex Glue™ can be painted with a high-quality latex paint.

Q: What is the difference between FLEX GLUE™ in the squeeze tubes vs. the Pro Formula?

A: All sizes have amazing instant grab technology. Our Pro Formula has even more instant grab to tackle bigger jobs. Both options dry in approximately 24-48 hours and will reach maximum strength in 7 days.

Q: What temperatures will it withstand?

A: Flex Glue can withstand a wide range of temperatures, ranging from -40°F up to 200°F.

Q: What the temperatures can it be applied in?

A: For easy application, we recommend dispensing in temperatures between 0° – 150°F.

Q: How do I clean up after using it?

A: Clean with a dry cloth. Most residues can be removed with isopropyl alcohol.

Q: Can I use it on drinking water, rain barrels, fish tanks etc.?

A: Flex Glue has not been tested for use on potable water sources.

Q: How many linear feet can I get out of one 6oz squeeze tube, one 10oz pro cartridge or one MINI 0.75 oz. squeeze tube of FLEX GLUE™?

A: Depending on the thickness of the bead, one 6 oz. squeeze tube will provide up to 30 linear feet, one 10 oz. Pro Formula will provide up to 50 linear feet and MINI 0.75 oz. will provide up to 3.75 linear ft.

Q: Can I remove it once its dry?

A: Once dried, Flex Glue™ can be removed with sharp tools similar to a chisel. However, it may not be possible to separate bonded materials without damaging the surfaces.

FLEX SEAL® LIQUID

Q: How much will one can of it cover?

A: Coverage will vary depending on the number of coats used and what type of surface you are applying Flex Seal® Liquid onto. However, our available sizes typically cover the following area:

1 Large 16oz – up to 18.75 sq. ft.,
1 Jumbo 32oz – up to 37.5 sq. ft.,
1 Giant Gallon – up to 150 sq. ft.

Q: What is the shelf life of FLEX SEAL® LIQUID?

A: Flex Seal® Liquid has a shelf life of 24 months when properly stored. If the can remains open for an extended period of time a skin may form on the surface. In order to avoid skinning over, remove the lid, use immediately and always replace the lid after each use. If skinning does occur, remove the top layer and use product.

Q: Is it safe to use around plants and animals?

A: Yes, Flex Seal® Liquid is safe around plants and animals (once fully cured).

Q: Will it expand and contract in the summer and winter?

A: Yes, Flex Seal® Liquid stretches, stays flexible, expands and contracts.

Q: Can I use it on the inside of my rainwater barrel?

A: Yes, Flex Seal® Liquid is safe on rain barrels (once fully cured).

Q: How much pressure will it withstand?

A: The maximum pressure Flex Seal® Liquid can withstand will vary based on the surface and the conditions under which it is applied. It’s always best to test a small area first.

Q: What temperatures will it withstand?

A: Flex Seal® Liquid has a wide temperature range from -80 to 350 degrees Fahrenheit. For best results, we recommend applying it to surfaces and substrates in temperatures between 32 and 120 degrees Fahrenheit.

Q: Can I dilute it?

A: Flex Seal® Liquid is ready to use and should be used right out of the can. Do not dilute it with solvents or water.

Q: How do I clean it up?

A: You can clean up excess or spilled product with a dry cloth or paper towel and mineral spirits (BEFORE the liquid begins to cure). DO NOT USE water or alcohol-based solvents.

Q: Can I apply it on a wet surface or when it’s raining?

A: It’s always best to apply Flex Seal® Liquid on a clean, dry surface free of grease and oil. If applied during heavy rain, some of the product may wash away. Therefore, we recommend applying it 24 hours prior to any heavy rain, hail or snowfall (if possible).

Q: Can I use it to repair a gasoline tank?

A: We do not recommend using Flex Seal® Liquid to seal a gasoline tank or any other flammable liquids.

Q: Can I paint it?

A: We do not recommend painting over Flex Seal® Liquid.

FLEX SHOT®

Q: Can I apply it to a wet surface?

A: It’s best to apply Flex Shot® to a clean, dry surface. Still, Flex Shot® can be applied to a wet surface, but just not in standing water.

Q: Can I use it in an enclosed space?

A: Yes, but it is recommended that Flex Shot® be used in a well-ventilated area.

Q: Will it fade, dry, crack, yellow or deteriorate because of contact with household cleaners?

A: No, Flex Shot® will not fade, dry, crack, yellow or deteriorate due to contact with household cleaners.

Q: How long does it last?

A: Flex Shot® will last up to 30 years and will not fade, dry, crack, yellow or deteriorate.

Q: How many linear feet can I get out of one can of Flex Shot®?

A: One can will cover up to forty (40) linear feet, depending on the thickness of the bead.

Q: Can I use it on a container that holds water for drinking?

A: Flex Shot has not been tested for use on potable water systems.

Q: Can I use it to fix tires or other areas with extreme pressure?

A: Flex Shot® is not recommended for use in extreme pressure.

Q: Are the extension tubes reusable?

A: Yes, extension tubes are reusable. After using Flex Shot® with the extension tube, you can leave the extension tube affixed to the can of Flex Shot®.

Q: Can the extension tubes be cut to adjust the thickness of the bead?

A: Yes, the extension tubes can be cut to any size in order to produce the desired bead thickness.

Q: How do I remove the extension tube that’s attached to my can of Flex Shot®?

A: The extension tube screws on to the top of the Flex Shot® can and is removed by unscrewing it in a counterclockwise direction. Do NOT attempt to remove the extension tube by pulling or yanking it off.
