Why are my Beats solo2 wireless headphones no longer discoverable?

The headphones wouldn’t connect several days ago. I made sure Bluetooth was switched on on only one device at a time but couldn’t get them to connect to any device (not my iPhone, iPad or MacBook). I pressed “Forget this device”, in order to try reconnecting, but since doing that the headphones are either not appearing at all in the list of Discoverable Devices or, when they do finally appear in the list nothing happens when I click on “Connect.” The little whirring symbol whirrs away, trying to connect but eventually up comes a message saying it was not possible to connect. The headphones still charge, and do the “pairing” mode thing of a red light flashing 3 times.

Are my headphones dead? Do I need to buy a replacement?

Is this a good question?

Chosen Solution

When bluetooth pairing most devices have blue or white leds flashing. Red is most used as a problem indicator.

I suggest you try a reset of the headphones following the Beats by Dre instructions.

Reset

Make sure your headphones are not plugged in to your USB charging cable.

  1. Press and hold the power button for 10 seconds.
  2. Release the button.
  3. The battery Fuel Gauge LEDs will all blink white, then the first will blink red—this sequence will happen three times.
  4. When the lights stop flashing, the reset is complete.

After that try to pair again:

Pair your headphones

To pair your headphones with your device, follow these steps:

  1. If you were using the RemoteTalk cable, unplug it.
  2. Turn on your headphones. Hold the "b" button  down for 2 seconds to put your headphones into pairing mode. The LED indicator light will pulse white.
  3. To connect your headphones to your device, select Solo2 Wireless on your device. If you’ve used Beats Updater to rename your headphones, that name will display in the list.

Your headphones reconnect automatically to the last device that you used with them.

I picked up my Beats Studio 2s after not using them for a while. I reset them, but when I try to pair them by holding down the “b” button for 2 seconds, nothing happens. There is no flashing white light. The white lights actually go out. I’m having trouble pairing my beats and they are not discoverable in bluetooth. Any advice would be helpful! Please!

An important factor to causes Beats can't connect to iPhone is the physical space between your device and your earphones. Bluetooth only works up to 30 feet, and that is without walls or other obstructions. Try bringing the devices a little closer together, and it should reconnect.

02 Check Your Sound Settings

Apple made a feature on iPhones that allows them to swap where the audio is playing at any time. It could be that your iPhone thinks it should be playing through a different Bluetooth device instead of Beats.

To fix this: Go to Settings > Music, then open the "Sound Check" option.
