On Monday, she shared a selfie from the weekend, giving an up-close view of her perfectly glam-beat face, long braids, and artificial pink nails. This time, the caption was to inspire thousands of fans. It read:

In 2004, LL Cool J's wife Simone Smith got the kind of news that a lot of people fear. Diagnosed with a rare kind of bone cancer called chondrosarcoma, Smith's case was tough since she was stage 3 by the time doctors discovered her ailment.

Anyone else who was in Simone Smith's position at that time likely would have been terrified. While it seems very likely that Smith was frightened, it has become clear that she is a tenacious human being.

To save Smith's life, doctors needed to remove her right tibia bone and replace it with the fibula bone from her left leg. On top of undergoing that successful procedure, Smith also underwent microvascular reconstructive surgery.

Fortunately for LL Cool J, Smith, and everyone who loves her, she survived her fight against bone cancer. Unlike most people who try to go back to their old life after beating cancer, however, Smith kept fighting.

In 2019, Smith starred in a video that she hoped would inspire other people who are battling cancer titled "Beat Cancer Like a Boss". While there certainly is value in that, something else Smith did is even more inspiring.

After Smith beat cancer, she revealed an unusual mark that was left on her body.

Before her cancer surgeries, Smith had a lollipop tattooed on her body. As Smith has explained in the past, doctors had to cut into the part of her body where that tattoo was during one of her cancer surgeries.

Since then, Smith has stated that her lollipop tattoo was forever changed after her surgery. "It literally looks like someone took a bite out of it."

Instead of regretting how her tattoo was affected by her cancer surgery, Simone Smith made something truly wonderful happen as a result. After teaming up with the American Cancer Society, Smith designed a piece of jewelry inspired by what happened to her tattoo.
